PRODUCTION LEAD - CANNABIS BEVERAGE MANUFACTURER
The unjust prohibition of cannabis in the US is ending, state by state, and giving rise to all kinds of new opportunities. Of particular interest to us, we find ourselves in a moment in the history of drinks when a commercially available, alcohol-free adult beverage is possible. The obstacles to realization include large gaps in the academic understanding of cannabinoids, a patchwork of challenging regulations and a fragmented supply chain. Novel Beverage Company is dedicated to meeting all of this head on.
We have been successfully manufacturing THC infused RTD beverages in Scarborough, Maine since March of 2021 and are in the process of commissioning a second plant in Salisbury, Massachusetts to serve that market. By taking a data driven, scientific approach, we have developed a process by which we can consistently produce accurately dosed, shelf stable and tasty THC drinks. We are very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish thus far but are also certain that the best is ahead of us on all these fronts.
We are looking for team members who have a proven track record of excellence in beverage production but also have the capacity for a beginner’s mind in how to approach a novel product. Folks who are passionate about quality, committed to putting in the work to establish the standards for our segment and always striving to raise the bar. People who are striving to be masters of their craft while always being students of the game. If this resonates, weed love to hear from you.
PRIMARY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Structurally, the Production Lead - Maine reports to the Head of Facilities and Production - Novel Beverage. They will work with the General Manager and Head of Fulfillment to understand what is needed in saleable goods inventories across all SKUs for the forecasted periods. They will develop a production sequence that meets these goals. They will directly ensure that we are properly staffed and supplied for the timely implementation of the plan measured against the Key Performance Indicators.
Characteristically, this person is the embodiment of the Safety > Quality > Efficiency mindset in the manufacturing process who has an internal drive for excellence in the details. They derive personal satisfaction from ensuring that our products meet our co-packing client’s specifications and exceed the end consumer’s expectations. They can quickly and comfortably switch between operating and troubleshooting equipment into management tasks. Their primary gear is can-do and know how to remain positive through production challenges and rapidly shifting priorities.
Strategically, this person sees the opportunity in setting the standards for a new segment of the beverage industry and has the interest and aptitude to help develop them. Moving the category forward will require advancements in laboratory procedures, process techniques and the specialized equipment and automation design to support it. While any one or a number of these subjects may not be in your immediate wheelhouse, the ideal candidate would have an interest in being part of the team that gets into some deeper water here. They would also be interested in setting the cultural standards of these production environments where we place a high value on open and honest communication, respectful accountability, investment in the personal growth and goals of our team members and zero tolerance for harassment or toxicity of any kind.
Tactically, the Production Lead will be accountable for:
- Ensuring and improving safety in the production area, for both the physical and mental well-being of our team members
- Identifying and intervening in situations that threaten the quality of the products and the functionality of the equipment and support utilities
- Maintaining Raw Materials inventories to meet production goals
