Company Overview: Aries Analytical is a cannabis testing laboratory located in Ferndale, Michigan which provides the required testing services including Potency, Pesticide, Heavy Metals, Microbial, Water Activity and Foreign Matter Inspection to licensed growers and processors.
Description of current duties and responsibilities:
- Receive and process samples (i.e. accessioning, labeling, distributing to lab areas)
- Enter samples and test orders in the LIMS system
- Sample preparation (i.e. homogenization, centrifugation, microbiology set-up, microwave digestion)
- Sample storage and disposal
- Sample waste management
- Responsible for printing worklists from the laboratory LIMS
- Responsible for barcode/labeling of samples
- Responsible for loading and/or unloading samples on assigned instruments
- Responsible for loading and/or unloading QC samples on assigned instruments (only when no qc sample prep is required/just pour off)
- Responsible for recognizing and identifying problems to appropriate supervisor
- Responsible for following the appropriate safety procedures at all times and disposing of waste properly
- All responsibilities named above are under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager

Office of Cannabis Management
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Environmental Science or Natural Sciences and four years of professional experience in Chemical monitoring covering environmental, forensic or clinical testing, or a Master’s Degree in the field of Environmental Science or Natural Sciences and three years of such experience, or a Doctorate in the field of Environmental Science or Natural Sciences and two years of such experience.
Duties Description
The incumbents of these positions will work on quality assurance and research activities to evaluate that cannabis will meet regulatory guidelines, ensuring that cannabis products are safe for consumers and comply with regulations for medical, adult-use (retail) and hemp cannabis. Responsibilities will include product review and approval, label, and package review, PMP compliance, coordinate with state approved labs and review and investigate adverse event reports.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform quality assurance activities assigned by the Office of Cannabis Management team.
- Develop and research quality standards, policies, and procedures for quality and product safety.
- Conduct research on best practices to inform quality assurance matters.
- Conduct research and make recommendations on statewide cannabis policy on a legislative level, as well as across entity types on matters related to product safety.
- Collaborate with staff with the review of documentation and research related to quality assurance for discrepancies.
- Compile data from multiple sources and prepare quality assurance metrics for presentation to Unit Director, Management, and the Executive Team.
- Formulate and develop quality guidelines, policies, and procedures and develop alternatives/strategies for programs on a statewide level.
- Report quality issues, and trends to management in a timely manner.
- May perform a full range of supervisory duties.
