Job summary:
Jackson Family Wines has an exciting full-time opportunity for an individual to join our Oregon Farming Team in the Willamette Valley. Under the supervision of the Director of Farming, the Viticulturist and Grower Relations Representative supports and coordinates various farming activities of our Estate vineyards as well as external growers.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with technical support of routine vineyard activities from pruning to harvest
- Participate in the internal scouting program for insects and disease and track phenological data
- Work with management team to develop fertilizer and pesticides plan
- Order, inventory and distribute fertilizers and pesticides
- Oversee quality, precision, and record keeping of all fertilizer and pesticide applications
- Manage the crop estimation from data collection to final report
- Manage the collection and record keeping of soil, water, tissue, pruning weights and irrigation data
- Water status monitoring (e.g., visual observations, soil moisture probes, pressure bombs, leaf porometer) and work with management team to develop a weekly irrigation plan
- Assist with LIVE certification and reporting
- Stay current on wine grape research
- Assist farming team with projects relating to our regenerative farming goals and any other special projects or trials assigned by the Director of Farming
- Maintain existing and develop new relationships with outside Growers
- Manage all aspects of grape contracting, including negotiations, approvals, record keeping and data entry
- Oversee outside vineyards for grape quality and good viticultural practices, conformity to contract standards, identify issues and support Grower’s inquires related to seasonal practices
- Support winemaking team and help with annual crop forecasting and grape maturity sampling for Grower vineyards
- Assist with harvest scheduling and logistics: responsible for scheduling harvest with growers and support where needed at Estate vineyards
Employment Status:
Permanent full-time salaried position with full benefits.
Employment Conditions and Requirements:
The employee must be capable of occasionally lifting and carrying at least 50 pounds, as well as bending, squatting and walking on uneven ground, doing manual labor outside in all types of weather, walking, standing and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee must use personal protective equipment when necessary including, but not limited to, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, work boots, etc. A valid Oregon Driver’s License is required.
Background and Experience:
Degree in Viticulture or related field is required. Strong communication and computer skills are essential. A Pesticide Applicator license and proficiency in Spanish are highly desirable. This position requires excellent planning and organizational skills as well as the ability to work as a team player.
