Full Job Description
Required Education and Experience:
- Minimum Education: Must have earned a Master of Science degree from an accredited academic institution in a natural science (such as chemistry, physics, or biology) or a subspecialty of a natural science (such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, or molecular biology).
- Must have 2+ years of relevant work experience.
- Must have ISO 17025 regulatory experience.
- Must have experience with ICP-MS, GC-MS, LC-MS, and HPLC
- Knowledge in cannabis testing regulations is preferred.
- Experience working with Shimadzu testing equipment is preferred.
Core Job Duties
- Supporting compliance with all State, Federal, and local laws.
- Supporting the commitment to impartiality and operations integrity.
- Reporting risks or infringements of impartiality and/or operations integrity to Management.
- Drafting and reviewing memos.
- Reviewing batch records for batch/lot release and review of certificate of analysis.
- Supporting Quality System annual review.
- Supporting internal and external audits of the laboratory.
- Supporting the review and implementation of new MMCC requirements.
- Drafting and review of new documents and changes to existing documents within the quality system.
- Supporting the instrument monitoring, maintenance, calibration, and cleaning.
- Drafting of instrument out of specification reports.
- Reviewing assay validation packets.
- Developing and validating new assays.
- Training of instrument and assay operators.
- Reviewing and implementing employee training plan.
- Involvement in procedure development.
- Attending appropriate training with external vendors.
- Performing cannabis extraction and related processes.
- Maintaining and operating lab equipment safely while following good manufacturing practice standards.
- Ability to safely handle hazardous materials including: Butane, propane, ethanol, pentane, isopropyl alcohol, critically hot material, cryogenic cold material.
- Reviewing data to determine pass criteria.
- Developing Certificates of Analysis for clients.
- Developing and revising SOPs.
- Ensuring safety and company policies are adhered to consistently and effectively and are communicated clearly to staff.
- Maintain strict inventory records of all materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory; anticipating needed supplies and ordering same.
- Maintain excellent professional relationships with vendors and outside colleagues.
- May interact with clients regarding Certificates of Analysis and testing methods.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the company to all team members at all times.
- Be punctual, professional, and exhibit a positive attitude.
- Attend and add value to team meetings.
- Engage in honest, innovative, problem solving dialogue.
- Perform preparation and cleaning of equipment and workspace.
- Wash and sterilize laboratory glassware as needed.
