Cannabis Testing Laboratory seeks a highly motivated individual to serve in an intake and junior chemist role. Ideal individuals must have a minimum of a Bachelors of Science (physical sciences or biological sciences recommended) and be comfortable in a laboratory environment.
This position is for the role of Intake/Accessioning and Junior Chemist at Apollo Labs, the fastest-growing cannabis safety- and potency-analysis laboratory in Arizona.
At Apollo, we are looking for individuals with experience in highly regulated industries with a strong focus on quality, cleanliness, and professionalism. We prioritize data quality and integrity – curious, eager, and ethical chemists are crucial to achieving those goals. Above all, we want to do good science that will build respect and trust for the cannabis industry. Priority is given to individuals with a pharmaceutical-industry, semiconductor-industry, or cGMP-regulated background. Cannabis industry experience is not required.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: data entry, handling of contained cannabis samples, and various administrative duties (inventory tracking, compliance tracking, paperwork/data management, etc.). This is a full-time position and perfect for a recent grad who is looking to get initial experience at a laboratory with opportunity for advancement to a Chemist position, should they show the interest and aptitude.
Candidate must be extremely detail oriented and willing to learn, have full command of the English language. Applicant is organized, articulate and efficient. Prior experience working in a laboratory a plus. In addition to good computer skills, the ideal applicant must be comfortable functioning and thriving in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel – Access is a plus) required.
Individuals with interest in computer science, scripting, database management, and more are encouraged to apply, as opportunities for parsing and management of large bodies of data and statistical analysis may arise.
General Responsibilities:
- Intake, inspect, and accession samples as they are received
- Ability to learn about and grow with the cannabis industry and the science associated with laboratory testing
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and compliant cannabis inventory, including flower and processed product
- Ability to work with a diverse team of individuals and rapidly changing goals and expectations
- Sample splitting/sorting and data entry
- Prepare laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory testing
- Ability to respect and maintain client analysis and testing confidentiality
- Route specimens by types of various staging areas
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under areas time constraints
- Follow detailed chain of custody protocols according to state regulations
- Possess the ability to weigh, calculate, and prepare cannabis products.
- Handling of analytical balances and analytical equipment
- Input data into LIMS and track-and-trace systems, as required
- Maintain compliance using a centralized tracking system.
- Communicate with lab testing personnel and laboratory director regarding sample testing and coordination of sample receipt
- Perform other tasks as required – be eager to potentially take on other instrumentation and analytical chemistry techniques
Education and Experience Required:
- Must have a Bachelors of Science or more advanced degree
- Must be 21 years old
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with time management skills and ability to self-manage
