Research Coordinator
The Cannabis and Tobacco Research Lab of San Diego is seeking a research coordinator starting in August 2022 (start date flexible). This position is eligible for a generous benefits package if the candidate desires full-time employment; the position can also be structured as a non-benefited part-time job. Salary is commensurate with experience and depending on whether full- or part-time; hours are flexible and hybrid work (some in-person and some remote) is possible.
Organization Description:
The Cannabis and Tobacco (CaT) Research Lab of San Diego conducts innovative behavioral and regulatory research with the mission of reducing the leading cause of preventable death and disease in the United States: cigarette smoking.
The CaT Lab of San Diego is located on the campus of California State University San Maros and led by Dr. Kim Pulvers.

Primary Role:
- Responsible for coordinating two-site behavioral randomized clinical trial, including participant recruitment; screening for participant eligibility and schedule coordination; managing intervention delivery, data collection, data entry, and participant compensation; overseeing participant retention and follow-up visits; and management of study protocols, physical material, and databases.
- Assists with additional aspects of research project management, including design and maintenance of research materials; creating/modifying IRB proposals; budget management; revising/editing manuscripts and grants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must be extremely conscientious, self-motivated, and organized with high attention to detail.
- Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Applicants must have strong computer skills (e.g., Excel).
- Applicants should have demonstrated experience with behavioral research
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field of behavioral science or public health.
- Two years of clinical research experience with knowledge of clinical trial protocols and procedures
- Proficiency with Qualtrics, REDCap, and SPSS or other statistical analysis package.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS is a plus
- Experience with social media and graphic design is desirable

POSITION SUMMARY The Head Grower is responsible for all aspects of growing, including watering, fertilizing, spraying, PGR Application, preparing greenhouse and outdoor areas for crops, plant movement, plant grooming, etc. They will work in conjunction with Greenhouse Manager and Team Leaders to implement growing protocols and schedules for the assigned areas including but not limited to: Managing optimum crop quality within the given areas. Collection and evaluation of EC/pH data for crops and adjusting fertilization program accordingly. Reviewing greenhouse settings such as temperatures, air humidity, and light levels and report needs to Greenhouse Manager.
EXPECTATIONS
· Discusses plant growing activities with management personnel to plan for growing activities that are consistent with planned production schedules.
· Plans for space allocation based on production reports and sowing schedules.
· Monitors growing conditions and oversees changes in humidity, moisture and temperature and cultivation procedures to ensure conformance with quality control standards.
· Monitors plant development to ascertain conditions such as leaf texture, bloom size and the existence of pests or disease; removing substandard or diseased plants to maintain quality standards.
· Determines rates of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides as required by the crops and applies and/or directs the application of them.
· Develops growing procedures for new species in product line and new cultivation techniques.
· Maintains inventory of needed growing supplies such as fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides.
· Maintains records of growing techniques and production; reviews records and reports to identify trends and to forecast future space and production needs.
· Trains employees in growing techniques and activities.
· Maintains a current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies.
· Maintains an awareness of new state of the art equipment and provides input into equipment and facilities upgrades and replacement.
· Provides pesticide and safety training to all employees and maintenance of records as required by Federal or State regulations.
· Assists the General Manager with other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
· 4 year degree in Horticulture or related field and 5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
· Must understand the use of injectors, electrical conductivity and pH meter, boom and irrigations systems.
· Thorough knowledge of water lines and be aware of and monitor conditions such as ventilation, light conditions, temperature and humidity.
· Must have in depth knowledge of the safe handling and application of chemicals such as fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides and fungicides.
· Have, or become a licensed California Pesticide License applicator (QAC,QAL)
- Experience with maintaining an Integrated Pest Management program.
- Read, write, and speak Spanish highly desired.

MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures, with a fair amount of moisture present.
· Ability to exert up to 15â€50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and 10 pounds of force constantly in order to lift and move product.
· Ability to balance, reach and grasp while climbing on a step stool and/or ladder.
· Ability to crouch, grasps, and lift product above shoulders in order to lift product from the floor properly.
· Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
· Ability to sit for long periods of time depending on your position and/or getting up and down through your work shift.
REQUIRED WORK SCHEDULE
