OVERVIEW: The Grower Relationship Manager is responsible for the purchasing of produce, materials and select supplies in the organization, taking into consideration cost, quality, timing and production restraints for the benefit of the company and maintaining strong relationships with the growers.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee pricing functions managing gross margins and volumes. Establish a cost matrix for each supply partner including all aspects of cost of goods.
- Ensure that we fulfill up to 95% of each customers original PO requested units by commodity type. Also ensure that quality of product sourced meets or exceeds our specifications.
- Work directly with business development team (Account Managers) establishing regular communication of Maglio cost, sales, pricing and margin options on an ongoing basis. Also obtain feedback from customers on needs and performance.
- Establish and monitor monthly reports tracking performance across all categories and vendors. Develop vendor rating system to reward loyal and good quality suppliers with more business.
- Report to management the measurable status of progress and corrective actions as it pertains to supplier performance.
- Develop at least 3 alternative sources by commodity when possible to ensure coverage of product needs.
- Ensure that we develop daily and weekly margin management capabilities by customer and commodity and make needed adjustments to pricing on an as needed basis with a sense of urgency.
- Execute daily, weekly, and seasonal produce procurement strategies with sales team involvement.
- Analyze market – recommend major purchases of produce and related materials based on anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability or unexpected market situations
- Keep track of changes in the market and communicate effectively. Historical data used to analysis trends.
- Develop process to track shrink and credits to ensure that we reduce them to reasonable market or below market levels.
- Ensure that ALL physical inventory of ALL commodities sourced by each location are accounted for daily, weekly and monthly and ANY exceptions are investigated and defined timely.
- Visit growing areas or suppliers on an as needed basis to establish relationships and develop joint go to market strategies.
- Leads development and implementation of strategies to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce total cost.
- Execute purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support business needs.
- Secure grower support and pricing on all contracts and RFPs on a timely basis.
- Ensure that purchasing documents are completed properly and submitted for payment on a timely basis.
- Managing and mentoring a team of purchasing professionals. Establish department practices and procedures
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
COMPETENCIES:

- Ability to identify processes needing improvement, and to then recommend improvements.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Production/Operations Management, or Engineering with coursework in Business Administration.
Experience:
- 5 years produce purchasing experience, or equivalent.
- CPM, CPSM, CSM, or equivalent preferred.
