Job Summary

Red Vault Extraction (RVE), a Kentucky based hemp extraction company, is seeking a plant controller to join our team in Mayfield, KY. The Plant Controller will work closely with the General Manager by providing financial reporting and analytics on the performance of RVE. More specifically, this position will work in collaboration with the RVE Kentucky team in providing direct hands-on support by providing accounting and financial reporting, data analytics, trends and variances, tracking KPIs and management dashboards to support strategic business decisions relating to RVE’s operations.

Core Job Duties

Financial analysis and reporting:

• Work in collaboration with the operations team to understand the pricing and cost components of RVE’s products to provide appropriate reporting
• Understand costing information and pricing models to develop reporting in support of effective pricing strategies and insights for RVE’s products with a view to meeting short, medium and long-term objectives
• Collection and extraction of financial and market data for various products
• Prepare and maintain budget and forecast templates and various financial models
• Help support and track the identified and implemented Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to promote timely effective decision making
• Participate in monthly business reviews and provide analytical support
• Perform ad-hoc financial/quantitative analysis and various reporting, financial modeling, and business operations requests
• Build a collaborative working relationship and become the financial liaison with the RVE leadership team

Financial and accounting management of operations:

• Provide effective, appropriate financial management support and oversight
• Record all accounting transactions and produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Oversee all accounting functions such as journal entries, bank and credit card reconciliations as well as processing AP and AR activity
• Process and oversee payroll and benefits programs
• Help develop and ensure compliance with applicable company financial policies
• Track and support effective process flows and internal controls over revenues as well as capital and operating expenditures
• Perform general ledger and bank account reconciliations
• Oversee the monthly close process to ensure timely, accurate and complete financial accounting and reporting
• Provide performance reporting and variance analysis to budgets and forecasts
• Monitor inventory and cost of goods sold and provide necessary feedback to operating personnel
• Work with outside advisors to file all necessary state and federal tax returns
• Manage accounting and ERP software platforms
• Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and procedures

Required Experience, Education And Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required
• 5 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) or Cannabis industry
• Strong financial acumen including experience with accounting, information technology, management reporting, variance analysis and other financial functions
• Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills
• Ability to balance multiple, diverse priorities and produce high quality deliverables
• Functional knowledge of financial reporting systems and methodologies
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
• Communication skills of explaining complex data topics to non-experts
• A benefit if proficient in Quickbooks and BackBone
• Strong experience working in a fast paced startup environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
