Summary/Objective
The primary responsibilities of the IPM Specialist are scouting, tracking, and responding to plant health issues of both biotic and abiotic origins. This includes active scouting of the crop, monitoring the progression of, and responding to any areas of concern. The position will frequently operate outside of normal “business” hours as needs require. Often starting and stopping later than other staff members and working weekends as needed to fit pesticide and foliar feed applications around other scheduled tasks.
In addition to the outlined tasks, this position will assist the rest of the Cultivation staff in performing other day to day tasks as needed including but not limited to pruning, watering, harvesting, nutrient and water testing, recording and measuring plant data, crop manipulation and training, room and equipment cleaning and sterilization, etc.
Essential Functions

- Perform weekly scouting checks on every room in cultivation including physically inspecting plants and sticky cards.
- Assist IPM Manager in developing an active scouting plan to ensure cultivation site is thoroughly covered in a timely manner.
- Fill out weekly logs and maps to track the progression of any areas of concern.
- Report pest/disease/plant health issues immediately to the Director of Horticulture and IPM Manager.
- Follow developed IPM recommendations for preventative and responsive actions including foliar and drench applications of biorational pesticides and the release of beneficial organisms.
- Maintain and log all records of pesticide applications as outlined by company and state policy.
- Maintain inventory of pesticide locker and inform IPM Manager of any needed items.
- Perform foliar applications of fertilizers for the correction and maintenance of canopy health.
- Work with Director of Horticulture and Cultivation Managers to ensure all biosecurity best practices are followed by cultivation staff.
- Develop and maintain current knowledge of common pest/disease concerns.
Preferred:
- Degree in plant pathology or similar tract.
- 2 years’ experience in plant production.
- Ohio private pesticide applicators license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
