Liquid Chromatography (LC) Chemist/Analyst (Supervisor)

Job Summary:
Our LC Chemist will oversee the operations related to determining potency of cannabinoids in cannabis and cannabis products. Cannabinoid content in samples will be determined through high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and UV-VIS detection. This position will be responsible for sample preparation and data acquisition, and initial data analysis before coordinating with the lab director for report generation. This position will also coordinate with the lab director for maintaining operational levels of consumables, developing efficient batch scheduling, and methods improvement plans. As we are a startup, initial responsibilities will also include coordinating with instrument manufacturers for installation and site preparation.
Essential Job Functions:
- Instrument operation, calibration, and preventative maintenance
- Instruments will include HPLC
- Sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis
- Practicing sterile technique, good lab practices, and sanitation/decon practices
- Maintaining operational levels of consumables and supplies
- Batch and sample scheduling
- Developing and following SOPs
- Compliance documentation
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Repetitive motion that may include wrists, hands, or fingers.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Working in or around extreme high or low temperatures.
- Working with hazardous or corrosive materials
- Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
Education Requirements:
- Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or related field (preferred)
- Bachelors in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, or related field (will be considered with relative experience)
Experience Requirements:
- Masters: 0-3 years lab experience, HPLC or related instrument experience preferred
- Bachelors: 3+ years lab experience, HPLC instrument experience required
- Experience in cannabis preferred
- Experience in an accredited lab setting (ISO, NYS, CLIA, FDA, etc) preferred
- Candidates with experience on instruments in our lab will be preferentially considered (qPCR, GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP-MS,)
Hours: Full time (40 hours per week)
