Greenhouse Grower/Horticulturalist
Company Profile
The Plant Company is a newly established business currently under construction for its Phase 1 production facility. Phase 1 construction encompasses a 5 acre greenhouse facility along with a 1.5 acre production barn.
The Plant Company is constructing a state of the art, controlled environment greenhouse for the sustainable production of tropical indoor foliage plants of consistent and exceptional quality.

Job Summary
Daily implementation and decision making around crop needs (e.g. climate, irrigation, fertility, EC and pH management, pest management). Plan, organize, direct, control, and coordinate activities of co-workers directly engaged in cultivating plants.
Finish crops on time, at the correct quantities and according to internal harvest specifications.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Plant science or related field.
- 2+ Years’ experience growing plants in commercial controlled environment greenhouse setting.
- Ability to identify insects and plant diseases.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience working with greenhouse climate control software such as Hoogendoorn, Priva, Hortimax or Argus.
Hours and Pay
- Full time position, 40+ hours a week, regular schedule Monday through Friday with weekend rotation.
- Wage range: $40,000 - $60,000 a year depending on experience.
Tasks
- Identify plants as well as problems such as diseases, weeds, and insect pests.
- Determine plant growing conditions and verify plants develop in line with planning and quality goals.
- Establish and maintain Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program.
- Apply biologicals, pesticides and fertilizers to plants.
- Position and regulate plant irrigation systems, and program environmental and irrigation control computers.
- Tour work areas to observe work being done, to inspect crops, and to evaluate plant and soil conditions.
- Assign work schedules and duties to greenhouse staff and supervise their work.
- Explain, promote and enforce safety regulations and policies.
- Inspect facilities and equipment for signs of disrepair and perform necessary maintenance work.
- Confer with management to plan facility renovations or additions.
- Maintain clean growing facilities, ensure that areas are free from weeds and debris, both inside and out.
