Have you ever wanted to learn what is involved with growing a spectacular foliage plant?
Do you want to work with a fun-loving team of awesome people who are dedicated to their craft?
We here at The Plant Company are looking to add two knowledge seeking individuals that fit our motto “Together we grow stronger”. The following tasks are some examples of things grower helpers will be trained and mentored to do:
- Pull those pesky weeds out of pots when they pop up.
- We irrigate when the plants tell us they are thirsty and feed them when they are hungry.
- We look for damaging insects and then we release good bugs to run them out of our greenhouse.
- We make warm little tents for our young plants coming in to make sure they have the best place to grow. When they are fully rooted youngsters, we remove the plastic and nurture them into spectacular plants ready for the world.
Now for the boring but important part. We start this position out at $15 per hour, but as the individual grows, learns, and has more responsibility, this rate grows too. We do offer medical, dental and vision insurance with the company paying 60% of your premium. We provide long and short-term disability insurance along with a basic life insurance policy all at no cost to you (although you may purchase additional life insurance if you wish). We have 6 paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) after one year of full-time service. So, with that said, our plants don’t take a day off, so we rotate weekend work and holidays. Grower helpers will work every other weekend (with a grower) and will take time off during the week to recharge if you wish. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, and feel you would be a good fit with our team, please send us your resume, or come on over to fill out an application at our state-of-the-art greenhouse located at 3038 Stuarts Draft Hwy. Stuarts Draft, VA. We look forward to “growing” with you!
