Duties:
Under the close supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist of the Cannabis Instream Flows Unit, the incumbent will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team tasked with the development and implementation of long-term principles and guidelines, including flow requirements and other conditions throughout the state to ensure that impacts of water diversion for cannabis cultivation do not significantly affect the instream flows needed to support aquatic resources and support the Department of Cannabis Control Cultivation Licensing Program. The incumbent will participate on technical advisory groups and attend meetings and workshops as a representative of the State Water Board. The incumbent will develop information and analyses necessary to support implementation of flow requirements, including evaluation of water rights and groundwater interactions, when appropriate. The incumbent will prepare and review environmental documents, adaptive management programs, and metrics to measure the success of the flow requirements and other measures in protecting public trust resources. The incumbent will also handle routine telephone and written inquiries from the public concerning water rights and the work of the Cannabis Instream Flows Units. The incumbent will perform other assigned duties not described above, but within the range of knowledge and abilities expected of an Engineering Geologist.
