Job Summary
Utopia will depend on the Processor to consistently package, label and fill cannabis-products. This position requires an individual to be familiar with, and proficient in manufactured cannabis work, and have worked in the cannabis industry or in a processing and packaging environment. The qualified individual will be responsible for meeting production and packaging goals, exceeding quality control standards and working effectively as a member of the team. Additional work may include occasional packaging/processing of cannabis flower at our Santa Cruz facility.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures put in place by the Production Manager
- Accurately, consistently and neatly package and fill cannabis-product.
- Accurately, consistently and neatly weigh out and package product.
- Label product correctly and neatly.
- Be highly organized, clean and efficient.
- Meet production and packaging goals
- Assemble finished products into ship-ready boxes
- Clean and/or sanitize work areas, utensils, and/or equipment
- Provide feedback regarding position and role efficiency
- Flexibly react to changes in the position and company
- Comply with all state and local laws per new cannabis regulations
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to maintain productivity without direct supervision
- Excellent time management skills and ability to organize tasks within shifts
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time
- Strong communication skills
- Excels in team environment; follows directions easily
- High attention to detail and extremely organized
- Able to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be 21+ years old
- Fluent in both written and spoken english

JOB SUMMARY
Utopia will depend on the Operations Manager to oversee the flower packaging and edibles productions team. Responsible for leading multiple teams, this individual will manage the group to meet production goals while exceeding quality control standards. We are seeking a well organized, hands-on, and detail oriented Operations Manager to oversee the processing team at our licensed California cultivation, edibles and packaging facility. The successful candidate for this role will have the managerial skills necessary to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the production and packaging efficiency, consistency, accuracy, safety and overall quality control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive improvement in team performance to meet company goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
- Through use of lean management tools, develop effective First Line Leaders
- As part of the Operations leadership, participate in and execute planning and scheduling process
- Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulations.
- Maintain Site Document Control and Training Systems
- Ensure site adherence to company culture and policies
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- MANAGEMENT: Ability to manage a medium-sized team in a manufacturing/laboratory setting. Ability to prioritize tasks and re-evaluate as situations change. Capable of leveraging the team and resources to maximize individual’s potential and achieve personal/company goals.
- PROTOCOLS: Support the facility in implementing and maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), OSHA regulations, and lean manufacturing principles.
- REQUIRED: 21+ years old, a current valid driver's license and your own vehicle to commute to and from work, ability to pass a Live Scan background check
- SKILLS: Excellent time management skills, multi-tasking abilities and capable of organizing tasks within shifts. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, high attention to detail, extremely organized, efficient and clean.
- EDUCATION: BS/BA or higher education preferred
- EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years related experience in managing or supervising a commercial production environment in a Consumer Packaged Goods, commercial wholesale food/beverage, pharmaceutical, dietary supplement, alcohol, tobacco, manufacturing, or similar industry.
- TECHNOLOGY: Proficient with computers, particularly Excel, Word, Email & capable of learning. Experience in Metrc or similar software preferred.
- LANGUAGE: Fluent in both written and spoken English
- ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Manufactured cannabis packaging/processing experience and Spanish language skills a plus. Experience managing multiple teams preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must regularly operate packaging, labeling and filling machinery, a computer and occasionally operate other office productivity machinery
- Must regularly move about a manufacturing facility
- Must be able to occasionally lift heavy objects
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
- Manufacturing/laboratory working conditions
- Dynamic environment, in a fast-paced industry – flexibility a must
- Moderate noise level
- Occasional weekend and off-shift work may be required.
