Role and Responsibilities:
University of the Sciences in Philadelphia is seeking part-time adjuncts in the area of Medical Cannabis for the 2020 - 2021 academic year. Adjuncts will facilitate Medical Cannabis courses online/asynchronously to Undergraduate Students in the USciences Online division. We are interested in innovative teaching approaches that complement the existing strengths of the University and contribute to the excellence of the learning experience and academic community.
We are currently hiring adjunct instructors for 100% online, flexible programs and six term starts per year. Each term is eight weeks. Pay per Course: $2,200.00 (undergraduate level). Below is the schedule for the remainder of 2020 and for all of 2021:

- Health Communication in the Cannabis Industry
- Cannabis Marketing and Sales
- Supply Chain Management in the Cannabis Industry
Specifically, the Online Adjunct will be expected to facilitate discussion relating to:
- The history of cannabis use and its prohibition in the US from legal and cultural perspectives
- Agricultural business processes relevant to growing cannabis in the United States
- Basic pharmacology of cannabinoids and how these interact with the endocannabinoid system
- Different cannabis delivery methods, formulations, and dosage
- Safety concerns in cannabis products and their consumption
- The state of the cannabis industry in the United States from legal, regulatory, and policy perspectives
- Risks and opportunities present in the cannabis industry
- Principles of marketing and sales management
- Marketing plans for cannabis-specific products or services.
- The business operations of a cannabis dispensary
- Important factors in designing, managing, and controlling business processes related to the selling and dispensing of cannabis
- The financial and legal requirements to operate a successful cannabis business
- How the regulatory environment impacts the cannabis industry
- Cannabis-related business organizations within the supply chain and the role of planning, information sharing, and forecasting.
Additional Expectations:
- Facilitate course via approved course plan/syllabus provided by USciences Online
- Adhere to all policies and expectations detailed in the USciences Online Adjunct Faculty Guide
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Master’s Degree in Medical Cannabis, Pharmacy, MBA or other-related field
- Subject matter expert in field with direct work experience
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of previous asynchronous, online teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- Experience with adult learners
- Access to computer: minimum computing requirements
- Comfortable with all aspects of online environment
- Flexible schedule to accommodate students in different time zones
- Active, ongoing engagement with all students to support learning
- 1-week turnaround for grading online assignments
- 24-hour turnaround for e-mails and responses to discussion board posts
- One-on-one consultations with students
- Willingness/availability to participate in ongoing online faculty development
- Adherence to ADA requirements for students with disabilities
- The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.

- How cannabis is produced, processed and sold in the U.S.
- Marketing plans for cannabis-specific products or services.
- The operations of a cannabis dispensary and the role of ancillary businesses in its successful operation.
- The financial and legal requirements to operate a successful cannabis business.
- How the regulatory environment impacts the cannabis industry.
- How the growing conditions of cannabis affect the cannabinoid composition of cultivars.
- The endocannabinoid system and the roles of the different receptors.
- The known effects of various cannabinoids on the endocannabinoid system and how these effects may translate into therapeutic benefit.
- The non-phytocannabinoids in the plant and their potential therapeutic effects.
- How cannabinoids and terpenes seem to work in synergy (the entourage effect) to impact the effects of cannabis on the body.
- The risks and benefits of medical cannabis in specific patient populations.
