Job Title: Contract and Litigation Associate Attorney
Who we are: Sheehan & Associates Law is a boutique law firm, with offices in Barrington, RI and Lexington, MA. We focus on small business legal services (with a lot of work in cannabis), estate planning, and civil litigation. We prioritize excellent legal services, strong client relationships, reasonable rates, and work-life balance for staff.
Who we seek: We are looking to hire an Associate Attorney to focus on our small business legal services- entity formation, contract drafting and review, leases, intellectual property protection, and working with companies on bringing in investors, etc. We do provide legal services to clients in the state legal cannabis industry in MA and RI, so any applicant must be comfortable with working with cannabis businesses. In addition, we are looking for this Associate to support various litigation cases that need drafting and legal research.
Hours: Position is a full time temporary hire from the months of September to January with the possibility of full hire after the temporary period.
Location: Primarily work out of our Barrington, RI office, with the ability to transition to partial work from home schedule after initial training.
Preferences:
- 1-5 years of experience in contract drafting and review.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-sufficient and resourceful; has the ability to take initiative and work independently with little supervision.
- Familiarity with G-Suite and technologically fluent.
- Licensed in RI and MA, or licensed in only RI but willing to become licensed in MA.
Compensation: $50-$75K annual base salary for full time (pro rata for part time), depending on experience. Ample opportunity to earn performance based bonuses.

Who we seek: We are looking for a law clerk who has experience drafting and preparing legal documents for an attorney, and performing legal research.
Hours: Either full time (40 hours/week) or part time (minimum 20 hours/week).
Location: Based out of our Barrington, RI office, but remote work possible.
Requirements:
- Strong legal research and writing skills - experience with either relevant work in a law firm, or JD degree.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and well versed in legal terminology.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and work collaboratively with all staff.
- Self-sufficient and resourceful; has the ability to take initiative and work independently with little supervision.
- Familiarity with G-Suite and technologically fluent.
Compensation: $40k-$60k, depending on experience. Would be prorated based hours worked.
