POSITION DESCRIPTION
Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) is a nonprofit youth development organization serving New Mexico. RMYC is a stepping stone to new opportunities. Position Type: * Grant funded position: 20 to 25 hrs /wk dependent on program needs
Salary: Non-exempt, hourly, $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Benefits: Laptop computer will be provided, part-time benefits provided for as stated in RMYC Staff Manual

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES*
Assist the Preventionist in managing and monitoring day-to-day operations of the RMYC Prevention Program which includes the NM Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP) contract to reduce adult and youth DWI, binge drinking and cannabis use in Taos County and AmeriCorps Public Health Crews. Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Assist with RMYC monthly data reporting by maintaining OSAP binder and data dashboard
- Organize 6-8 Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) trainings within the community per year.
- Work with local alcohol establishment to improve 3 house policies per year
- Visit all alcohol establishments in Town/County to invite and encourage participation in RBS.
- Complete GIS map (ground survey of local alcohol establishments) by November of each year. Update on data dashboard.
- Collaborate with Taos Alive Coalition to work with Town and County Council members on alcohol outlet density reduction; develop ordinances in relation to outlet density and preventative design.
- Research weekly alcohol-related events/incidents in The Taos New and any alcohol licenses up for approval/renewal.
- Attend all town/county council meetings related to alcohol or preventative design
- Attend at least 2 DWI checkpoints per year.
- Attend monthly meetings: Taos Alive Alcohol Policy, Taos Alive Coalition Meeting, Taos Alive Media Work Group, DWI Council, Alcohol Outlet Density meeting (via phone). File all agendas into OSAP binder
- Works closely with Project Director, Project Manager, Lead Epidemiologist and Coalition to develop and implement a Strategic Plan to address reducing substance misuse in Taos County.
- Assist with data collection.
- Assist with planning.
- Assist with implementation.
- Work with Lead Preventionist to develop and implement strategies, programs and policies with the Public Health Corps near peer mentoring program.
- Work as part of the prevention team to support Taos Municipal Schools in Strategic Planning and Program development to create a comprehensive plan to address substance misuse.
- Work with the Preventionist to oversee and provide coordination for the AmeriCorps Public Health Crews placed with schools in Taos County, Taos Pueblo and Espanola.
- Participate in weekly check-ins for Public Health Crews

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Assist in survey collection: Fall SFS, Spring NMCS
- Assist Preventionist in coordinating and attending/setting up a booth/banner/presentation at community events. Including but not limited to: Taos Fiestas, The Paseo, TSV spring break event, Taos Plaza Live, Taos Pride, Regeneration Festival, Movies on the Green. Work with the town on allowing a health booth at local concerts.
- Submit required documentation paperwork in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner
- Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED*
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong computer skills, proficiency in word processing, power point, and excel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to work in a cooperative manner with other community organizations and exhibit a positive attitude
- Must have a flexible schedule, willingness to travel for training and on occasion work nights/weekend to participate in various presentations and DWI checkpoints
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred

EDUCATION: *
College or vocational or technical training in related field preferred. Four-year College preferred, but in exceptional cases, relevant work experience and willingness to learn new skill set may be substituted for part of the education requirement. Will work toward certification of Prevention Specialist
