General Description
Adult Continuing Education is seeking a Case Manager to support students in the Cannabis Workforce and Business Development Training Program at BMCC. The program will focus on developing the early guide rails for this growing workforce sector in New York City as well as designing foundation workforce training curricula responsive to the regional industry specific needs while ensuring that workforce training curricula is founded upon solid adult learner pedagogical frameworks. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Special Projects, the case manager is responsible for providing support with the preparation, planning, launching, supervision, and scaling in all areas of the program starting with recruitment, assist with training and employment retention activities to support job development. The Case Manager provides direct support to the students in the form of referrals, follow-up, and tracking.
Other Duties
- Coordinating outreach, recruitment, screening, pre-assessment, and enrollment of new applicants.
- Advising and motivating students through in-class workshops and one-on-one client sessions.
- Write monthly case notes of current participants as well as follow up participants
- Observing established program’s confidentiality measures during case management.
- Identifying and establishing reciprocal referral relationships with relevant community-based organizations, social service agencies, and local immigrant organizations to meet students’ needs.
- Providing crisis intervention, support, and referrals to social services for students.
- Participating in funder update and reporting activities, including the writing of monthly and quarterly reports on program and student outcomes using compiled data and student feedback.
- Maintain case management files per grant protocols.
- Alerting the program manager of students needs related to job readiness and employment assistance so that appropriate connections can be made to the Workforce1 Career Center, and the funders.
- Collaborating with the Program Coordinator and Job Developer to collect, record, and share relevant data on post-Training Program completion and employment outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least two (2) years of relevant work experience related to case management, preferably in higher education administration or in the professional learning and development arena.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with student, funder, staff, and employer engagement.
- Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, advocate for students, and support organizational goals.
- Ability to establish community networks and deal effectively with community groups.
- Must have a passion for helping adults advance.
- Ability to refer participants to services that will assist with overcoming barriers.
- Schedule flexibility: able to work in-person 3 days a week and work remotely the remainder of the schedule, subject to change. Occasionally support evening and weekend program events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with at least three (3) years’ experience in Workforce Development.
- Knowledge and experience of the CUNY system and/or NYC government agencies.
- Familiarity with CBOs, economic development agencies and legal services.
Position is grant funded until 2025.

Adult Continuing Education is looking for an Employment Specialist/Job Developer to connect our students with professionals in the allied health, business, and technology sectors. Reporting to the ACE Directors, the individual must deliver outcomes for both tuition and grant funded programs.
The Job Developer will serve as an employer engagement specialist to establish relationships and develop industry experiential learning opportunities leading to job placement. The role will also serve as a career coach providing one-on-one with clients to assess their capability and experience and to develop and implement vocational plans that provide them with the tools they need to find and retain employment. This will include preparing resumes, conducting mock job interviews, responding to job leads, assisting clients applying to on-line positions and providing extensive retention support. The individual will be responsible to build capacity to effectively serve adult learners, unemployed and underemployed workers to re-enter the job market.
Other Duties
- Conduct market research for job leads; locate jobs for participants who have successfully completed training programs; match employer job demands with trained skilled students who will fit requirements; collect and track data.
- Research, identify, engage and negotiate with sector-based employers hiring for paid and non-paid internships, entry level and mid-level positions.
- Understand Cannabis, Allied Health and I.T. labor and market demands, by researching industry trends using various sites: Dept of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Indeed, Career Builder, and attending industry forums, etc.,
- Conducts job development and job search activities directed toward positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the people on his/her caseload, following the principles and procedures of Workforce Development and BMCC’s ACE.
- Facilitate Job Readiness Workshops: Career Awareness, help students improve their soft skills, how to fill out on-line application, resume writing, interview preparation, building their brand through social media, job retention skills while developing professional attitudes.
- Maintains and develops personal contacts with employers in the business, allied health, technology, and professional business sectors to promote BMCC students for externship and job placement opportunities.

- Work to secure industry partnerships with signed MOUs.
- Coordinate the interview process with student and potential employer site for internship and job placement.
- Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs.
- Initiate cold calls to potential employers; anticipate the benefits and employment services provided by programs to employers, including employer’s needs.
- Conducts at least six employer contacts each week to learn about businesses and employer needs, to talk about specific clients who are looking for work and/or to talk about employer services offered by ACE program.

- Collect industry ready resumes to market the student for internship/job placement opportunities. Work closely with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or reviews other employment options.
- Maintain contact with employers during the participants' employment and reports results to appropriate staff.
- Distribute and collect Student/Preceptor evaluations.
- In conjunction with the Director of Workforce Development, conduct evaluation of site locations.
- Track participant activity and progress data.
- Helps clients find and keep competitive employment that is consistent with their vocational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least four years of work experience is required; or, Master’s Degree public administration/policy, education or related discipline is preferred.
- Significant Employment Readiness experience, knowledge of Cannabis sector, Allied Health and I.T. workforce development; Ability to be flexible and to work carefully and quickly to meet the demands of busy programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power-point.

Reporting to the Director of Programs and Special Projects, the Sr. Program Manager will provide overall direction and coordination of the CWBDT program. He/she will be responsible for providing support with the preparation, planning, launching, supervision, and scaling in all areas of the program starting with recruitment, coordination, and implementation of the CWBDT program. The Sr. Program Manager will be responsible for supporting the daily operation of the grant, providing monthly updates regarding the implementation of activities, student tracking, budget, and progress towards goals.
Other Duties
- Ensures effective delivery of instruction for all Cannabis related training modules
- Assess program curriculum and make modification when necessary
- Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the CUNY’s Cannabis Workforce and Business Development Training Program
- Prepare and distribute progress reports, transcripts and program certificates to all students completing the training program
- Plan and set project goals and milestones to comply with requirements set forth by grantors, investors, or college officials.
- Create program calendars for the relevant programs
- Develops and maintains ongoing collaborative relationships with CBP partners in order to facilitate their roles.
- Engages in problem solving and adopts a continuous improvement approach to ensuring the quality service delivery.
Take the lead in project planning and oversee program implementation and budget expenditures to ensure effective use of resources against planned activities and expected outputs. - Collaborate with college staff and finance department in preparing sub-agreements and/or MOUs with project partners. Serves as a resource to the project’s Advisory Board.
- Hires and supervise instructors, data collection/retention specialist, Case Manager(s) and other personnel in tracking participant’s progress and attrition.
- Ensure adequate project monitoring and evaluation systems are in place to collect information and consolidate data to demonstrate impact and inform ongoing program design.
- Compile and prepare quality monthly and periodic project progress reports, as well as the final report, and feed in other information as required.
- Coordinates the development of policies, procedures and standards and make recommendations to advisory board.
- Develop and lead training and other capacity building efforts to develop knowledge and skills around case management, core concepts, referral mechanisms and community-outreach and mobilization for local partners.
- Support staff to implement, follow up and monitor plans for all training and capacity building efforts. Provide ongoing guidance to staff and partner agencies to ensure programming meets best practice standards and guidance around CUNY’s Cannabis Workforce and Business Development Training Program.
- Participate in regular meetings, ensures that project activities are in line with the RFCUNY and DOL regulations and policies, in all activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience, preferably in higher education administration or in the professional learning and development arena.
- The ideal candidate will have proven leadership, strategic thinking skills, experience of program development from concept to delivery; excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and will display exemplary team leadership, mentorship, and professionalism.
- Experience with student, funder, staff, and employer engagement.
- Experience with developing and implementing marketing and marketing collateral.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to prioritize multiple tasks appropriately.
- Experience developing programmatic budgets.
