Job Description
Position Summary:
The Grower will be responsible to ensure nursery cultural practices are planned and implemented to achieve target standards for all products while assisting in risk management activities ensuring stock is properly protected. The Grower will assist in monitoring and tracking the crops against growth curves and keeping irrigation and climatic records. They will also assist in supervising and training nursery workers, and maintaining, repairing and upgrading nursery facilities and equipment in use. Some weekend and shift work will be required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Either a two-year or four-year diploma in in horticulture or agriculture, or an acceptable combination of formal training and relevant experience
- Experience working in horticulture, greenhouse, and/or /farming operations including the ability to coordinate and supervise operational tasks, planning, and crew supervision
- Ability to make minor repairs to irrigation systems and other production equipment
- Proven experience collecting data, defining problems, establishing facts, and draw valid conclusions necessary to identify a wide variety of conditions such as plant diseases or insects
- The ability to work with minimal direct supervision
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office
- Applicants must hold, or be capable of obtaining, a Pesticide Applicator License

Position Summary:
As a member of the local management team you will have the opportunity to work with the most innovative conifer seedling producer in the industry with a focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Senior Production Manager, you will oversee all aspects of greenhouse and open compound seedling production as part of an experienced team that takes pride in meeting our customer expectations. Your focus will include crop culture, continuous improvement activities, customer focus, and safe work procedures.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
The ideal candidate will have:
o A degree or diploma in horticulture, agriculture, or forestry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
o Five or more years of horticulture or crop production experience
o Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
o Experience leading and managing crop production teams
o Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
o Knowledge or experience with continuous process improvement in a production environment
o Ability to problem solve and conduct root cause analysis
