The Extraction Technician II is primarily responsible for assisting all commercial extraction activities and maintaining a highly organized and hygienic facility. The Extraction II technician takes direction from the Extraction lead and Extraction Technician II , mandated by DEF, and works independently to complete tasks as it relates to production, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the production areas under the company’s prescribed Standard Operating Procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Be able to lead extraction room operations in absence of DEF or Extraction Lead.
- Maintain a sterile laboratory environment with a high focus on organization and cleanliness.
- Maintain process equipment in congruence with SOP’s.
- Handle & maintain integrity of raw material.
- Record daily production data in manufacturing record logs.
- Accurately records inventory and depletion of plant material, chemicals and other supplies
- Operate extraction equipment as listed in company SOP’s
- Work as part of a team to meet production goals
- Able to multitask while exercising extreme attention to detail
- Good communication skills, verbal and written, with the entire team
- Capable of working with hazardous chemicals and is able to identify and report unsafe equipment, conditions and practices so that they may be corrected prior to an incident
- Ability to interpret, follow, and learn complex technical instructions
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
· B.S. in engineering, chemistry, biology, food sciences, or applied manufacturing degree
· Prior laboratory and extraction experience
· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Training
· Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission Recreational Marijuana Program; Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Department of Agriculture, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
· Familiarity with OSHA & EPA guidelines in relation to dealing with hazardous chemicals
Required Skills & Experience
· Excellent computer, mathematical, language and reasoning skills
· Ethanol and CO2 extraction processes and methodologies
· Ability to execute highly technical operating procedures
· Meticulous attention to detail
Preferred Skills & Experience
· Knowledge of Oregon marijuana laws, Oregon Liquor Control Commission Recreational Marijuana Program regulations, and Oregon Health Authority requirements and Oregon Department of Agriculture rules; Previous marijuana industry experience preferred with priority given to candidates with experience in licensed manufacturing facilities
· Comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment
· Wet Chemistry, Fluid Mechanics, and Thermodynamics of endothermic fluids
· Separation sciences & chemical purification

Physical Requirements
· Must be able to individually lift up to 50 lbs.
· Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach and lift for long periods of time

Work Requirements
· Understand the complexity of compliance requirements governing our businesses, including the following types of regulatory agencies: Oregon Liquor Control Commission Recreational Marijuana Program, Fire Department, City Zoning and Planning, Oregon Health Authority, and the Oregon Department of Agriculture
· Must be able to work in manufacturing or production facilities with moderate to loud noise level and changing working conditions. May require use of safety equipment or personal protective equipment, as needed
· Must be able to work in an office environment with moderate to loud noise level
· Must be able to acquire OLCC Marijuana Worker’s Permit prior to beginning employment
Travel Requirements
· Occasionally requires local travel, as needed.
