Position Title: Retail Store Manager
Location: Marina Del Rey
Reports To: Regional Manager – Southern California
Main Purpose of the Role:
The Store Manager’s role is to achieve the store sales and profit targets by effectively managing their team, managing wages and other expenses in line with budgets, executing the Visual
Merchandising directives and upholding store standards while continually always providing exceptional customer service.
In the store, this leader drives his/her business through a focus on performance (sales, inventory results, and operational compliance), people (hiring, training, and HR), and process
(standard operating procedures).
Requirements:
- 40 hours/week in store
- Monday & Tuesday Opening Shifts
- One Closing Shift Per Week
- One Saturday or Sunday Shift Per Week
Role Accountabilities
Accountability: Financials
- Achieve sales budgets daily, monthly, quarterly, and annually and ensure that your store achieves or exceeds KPI benchmarks.
- Analyze sales by department and the categories within these departments weekly and constantly challenge the way your store and team operate to ensure store budgets are met or exceeded.
- Ensure wage costs are at or below budgets and compliant with wage and hour regulations.
- Improve the profitability of the store by monitoring margins, wage costs, expenses, and shrinkage levels.
- Effectively communicate with retail management regarding sales as required. Submit weekly reports accurately and on time.
- Encourage a sales focused and driven culture within your store.
- Oversee inventory control and loss prevention measures in store.

- Manage the physical inventories/audits in your store and ensure they are completed on time each month without disruption to store sales.
Accountability: Customer Service
- Ensure that customer service and product knowledge is of the highest standard and is always demonstrated.
- Ensure all staff has a “customer first attitude” in store.
- Be prepared to discuss customer and merchandise feedback upon request.
- Resolve customer complaints in a professional, friendly, and timely manner in accordance with Highway’s customer service standards.
Accountability: Leadership / Staffing
- Responsible for hiring/recruiting and training for all employees in the store on all aspects of their position.
- Responsible for providing constructive feedback regarding performance and conduct of all sales and inventory staff.
- Create a positive work environment that results in high retention and low turnover.
- Induct all new employees in line with SOP’s and minimum training requirements are being met.
- Initiate and participate in all product knowledge training sessions and ensure all staff provide superior product knowledge and service.
- Ensure your employees are highly motivated, honest, reliable, and capable of performing their assigned responsibilities/duties.
- Where required, actively coach and counsel employees to enable them to reach their fullest potential.
- Write and conduct annual reviews for sales staff. Ensure candid constructive feedback and goals are set.
- Effectively supervise the store environment by planning, organizing and delegating tasks to meet store goals and expectations of sales and operations.
Accountability: Store Standards
- Know and understand Highway’s history, vision, mission, purpose and company principles and values.
- Ensure a clean, professional working environment in accordance with the Highway Standards and merchandise guidelines, making sure that the store is left clean, tidy, and filled at the end of each day.
- Ensure dress and presentation of yourself and your staff always reflects a high standard.
- Current Highway product must be worn in store by all staff per the Uniform Guidelines.
- Manage minor store maintenance projects.
- Timely reporting of maintenance issues to Regional Manager.

Accountability: Inventory Control / Compliance
- Be knowledgeable and ensure your store’s compliance with Highway’s policies, procedures, and standards as well as DCC requirements.
- Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met, including workplace safety (OSHA and IIPP), inventory control, and loss prevention.
- Manage the accurate movement of product in and out of your store.
- Comply with the invoice audit process and ensure accuracy.
- Be constantly aware of the floor and backroom stock levels.
- Inform Regional Manager or buying department if there are any issues with product replenishment or quality.
- Ensure the store follows all procedures specific to stock control- intake, receiving, returns, damages, waste, etc.
- Ensure all store records, files and SOPs are maintained to company standard and are up to date. Employee files must be completed correctly and kept updated and old employee files to be sent to HR.
- Be sure all banking procedures are implemented by management and are being done correctly. Including but not limited to: depositing cash, chargebacks, banks discrepancies, shortages/overages, etc.
- Ensure new hire paperwork is completed correctly and forwarded to payroll for set up within time target prior to employee beginning the onboarding process.
- All documents relating to reviews, UPNs, and any other documents required by HR to be presented and delivered in a professional and timely manner. Responsible for all HR troubleshooting with underlying managers and staff.
Accountability: Product Merchandising / Marketing
- Ensure the execution of all VM directives are understood, actioned and followed.
- Meet all VM deadlines, including window directives. Ensure floor sets happen in a timely manner as well as marketing and signage updates.
- Communicate regularly with the Regional Manager on any store specific or marketing needs.
- Provide feedback to Regional Manager and Purchasing Team to ensure all product needs are being communicated and met when possible.
- Work with Regional Manager and Marketing Team on community marketing opportunities and ensure they are in line with Highway vision.
- Constantly audit store standard from merchandising and cleaning to the back-stocking of product and filling.

Qualification & Experience Requirements:

- Work a flexible, full-time schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical presence in retail store and ability to move quickly throughout store and obtain stock in backroom as necessary (including lifting boxes up to approximately 25 pounds, climbing step stools/ladders and standing/walking for long periods of time)
- Ability to arrive to work on time and follow a retail schedule, including working during holidays and busy season
- At least 2 years’ experience in Store Management, preferably for a vertical retailer.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
