Solo practitioner with 21 years of criminal law experience looking for associate to perform legal writing and research. 70% of cases involve indigent defense in both State and Federal Courts including death penalty work.
On an annual basis, I take on a case involving impact litigation. Examples, challenging the imprisonment of transgender juveniles in adult prisons, challenging the service of federal grand jury subpoenas to juveniles, challenging the right of courts to directly place juveniles in out of state facilities, challenging cannabis prohibition, challenging the right for farmers to grow hemp. Upcoming impact litigation projects will include participation in a nationwide challenge to cannabis prohibition, and challenging the lack of appropriate treatment of persons on the spectrum in state mental hospitals.
Office is located in a farmhouse on a working hemp farm. Desire to learn irrigation and cannabis horticulture a plus.
Working atmosphere is very intellectual and casual dress. Work life balance is valued.
Expected work will be to research, write legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and appeals.
Excellent writing ability. Preference for English and Philosophy majors. Will train on the job for criminal matters.
