Position Title: Packaging Line Lead
Supervisor: Packaging ManagerFLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-ExemptWage Grade: Hourly

Position Description:
The Packaging Line Lead will assist the Packaging Manager in running shifts when the Packing Manager is not present. At these times, the packaging lead will oversee the Packaging Technicians and Operators. Tasks will include: canning and bottling our beer, as well as keg cleaning, cellaring and cleaning when needed. Additional tasks include assistance in: training, communication, motivation and morale within the department. Some related administrative duties include system and operations development and reporting. This person must maintain a safe and organized work environment. The work schedule is managed by the Packaging Manager in response to the needs of the job, and in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
Position Specific Tasks
(Packaging and Warehouse)
- Work in conjunction with Packaging Manager to execute required packaging schedules to fulfill order needs in a timely manner
- Ensures that bottling and canning lines are up and running at the scheduled start time
- Ensures change overs, can reloads, and sku changes happen quickly and efficiently
- Maintain accurate production and efficiency reporting at all times
- Follows and ensures department goals are upheld
- 1. Fill 100% of the orders 100% of the time in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible
- 2. Uphold high quality standards: great fills, low airs, maximum yield, minimal loss, tight seams, tight crowns, clean workspace, clean and well maintained machines, dependable delivery
- 3. Supporting the growth and development of packaging team members. Encouraging critical thinking, problem solving, and the continuous pursuit of knowledge
- 4. Don't screw up beer
- Daily Can line tasks
- Run CIP cycles at set up and tear down
- Run the Paktech can carrier applicator
- Have a strong working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Field maintenance/mechanical issues while on duty
- Reporting run statistics
- Training
- Load can pallets into the depal
- Run the canning line
- Pack case trays or boxes with cans or bottles
- Palletize filled cans or boxes
- Clean and maintain the canning line and packaging work area
- Accurately record batch numbers for Warehouse
- Bottle line tasks
- CIP, run, and troubleshoot bottling line
- Maintain Quality Control including: Fill levels, D.O.s, Crown Tightness
- Maintain and set up labeler
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary
(Quality Control)
- Work with Lab Tech to get QA/QC checks done on all runs.
- DO and CO2 checks
- Report all out of spec levels to Packaging Manager
- Can seam checks with videography
- Fill levels

- Lab samples are collected
- Make sure that our finished product (caseware, kegs, labels, etc) leaves the brewery looking professional to the consumer
(Safety and Sanitation)
- Uphold sanitation and cleanliness standards within the department to comply with food quality standards which include: Parts cleaning, food storage, personal hygiene, and quality assurance
- Safely handling cleaning chemicals, and using the prescribed amount for each task
- Must observe, practice and uphold all Brewery Safety Procedures. Includes wearing the proper PPE at all times on the Packaging Floor
(Planning and Proactive Measures)
- Share ideas for improvement or efficiencies within the packaging department.
- Assist in regular checks of inventory levels of raw goods including: cans, packtech, boxes, ink, labels, etc
- Works courteously and professionally with all vendors and co-workers
- Follows and ensures company policies and employee led code of conduct are upheld
(Reporting)
- QA/QC samples are collected and all forms submitted as needed
- Packaging, Keg Log, and Daily Worksheets are accurate and updated as needed
- Ensures titrations and adjustments of chemical baths are performed per QA/QC mandates
- Assists in monthly inventory counts of all COGS and Finished goods, and reconciles any variances as needed
Skills and Experience
- Prefer previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Required previous experience operating automated filling, labeling, and packing or similar type equipment
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prefer forklift certified
- Acquire Food Handlers card within 45 days of the start date
- Organized with excellent time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal skills
- Attention to detail
- Good judgment with ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Ability to identify problems and review information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Job Requirements
- Able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Able to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
- Able to manipulate valves and clamps
- Able to regularly lift/carry 44 pound boxes
- Able to regularly lift/carry 55 pound bags above waist level
- Able to periodically lift/move 165 pounds
- Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot
- Able to work in indoor and outdoor environment with moderate noise, sometimes slippery floors
- Able to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including PPE such as gloves and goggles
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.50 - $21.00 per hour
