Dad Grass Supply Chain & Product Operations Director
Job Description
Dad Grass is on the hunt for a Supply Chain & Product Operations Director with experience scaling a consumer goods business into a national success. This is a unique opportunity for a leader who wants to build and implement processes, playbooks and strategies to grow, develop and scale a leading brand in an exciting industry.
Our team is small and we all wear many different hats (including dad hats). On any given day you could be managing the production team, cultivating vendor relationships, searching for new supply chain partners, interfacing with a 3PL, fulfilling a rush order, responding to a CS inquiry, building a new manufacturing SOP, digging deep into inventory data for actionable insights or QC testing a recent production run.
You’ll be working from our Los Angeles headquarters directly with the Co-Founders and collaborating with the product, sales and marketing teams. As an early employee and departmental leader, you’ll be deeply involved in driving the strategy and managing various components of the brand’s entire product ecosystem. That means that you’ll take ownership from inception to execution; planning, monitoring and delivering successful product and supply-chain initiatives that ensure we always deliver the highest quality goods in the most efficient ways possible.
General Management Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day on-site operations, including facilities vendor relations, security systems, property management relations, etc
- Manage, develop, empower, and lead on-site Production and Fulfillment teams (headcount of approximately 10)
- Proactively search for efficiencies in operations, staffing, product and packaging, and provide recommendations and plans to implement changes
Supply Chain Responsibilities
- Own the business’s supply chain inclusive of packaging, raw materials and third-party goods, from inception to finished goods
- Deliver regular reports and analysis of sales/inventory/production to optimize production planning, support accounting/forecasting efforts, and provide insights to cross-functional team members
- Optimize inventory management system and forecasting/planning tools. Edit, add and implement new tools and processes where appropriate.
- Lead efforts to select, configure, implement a new ERP system. Ensure adoption with cross-functional teams.
- Expand and deepen supply chain network through industry research, market intelligence and strategic analysis of current and future operational/business needs
- Identify, onboard, manage and support new vendor relationships as needed
- Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to create detailed and strategic GTM plans for successful new product launches
Production, Fulfillment & Quality Control Responsibilities
- Oversee all manufacturing operations, including in-house as well as third-party production
- Maintain up-to-date production plan, informed by inventory needs, sell-through speeds, and sales goals
- Oversee all DTC/Wholesale order fulfillment and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and improved customer experience
- Lead inbound customer service activities including returns, recoveries and product-related inquiries
- Manage and continuously improve the QC system to ensure all incoming, in-process and outgoing products and packages meet Company quality standards
- Manage product testing process and ensure all COAs are current
We think you would be most successful in this job if you…
- Have 7+ years supply chain & operations experience with a consumer-driven product. Past responsibilities ideally include leading and building a production & distribution team, implementing an ERP and scaling a CPG or other consumer brand to national level
- Understand the dynamics of a DTC brand and the intersection of DTC, wholesale & distribution channels
- Have experience in consumer products businesses. Track record in CPG, beverage, health/wellness or apparel industry is preferred but not required. Experience in cannabis or CBD is a plus.
- Have formal Six Sigma training and/or Lean Manufacturing certifications. This is strongly preferred but not required.
- Have hands-on experience with logistics software modern ERP/MRP systems. Experience developing and implementing an ERP is a significant plus.
- Are deeply knowledgeable about data analytics and financial modeling, and effectively leverage those skills in support of your daily activities
- Are dedicated, creative, fast-moving & scrappy. You're known to operate with passion, creativity, urgency, focus, and discipline. Projects and priorities might shift rapidly, but you’re comfortable in the gray zone, always ready to roll with the punches.
- Have solid fundamentals. That means you have outstanding written and verbal communication skills, you’re highly organized, you pay attention to the details, and you’re a self-starter with a reputation for always following through.
- Demonstrate a high emotional intelligence. That means you have excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude. You nurture and maintain positive and reliable connections. And most importantly, you are open, honest & transparent.
- Are able to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced, creative startup environment and have a proven track record of delivering quality work at a high volume in a tight timeframe.
- Have the ability to work nights and weekends when required.
- Have the desire to be a part of a small but mighty start-up and the drive to be instrumental to its growth. We are looking for a partner that wants to get in on the ground floor, stay in it for the long haul, and share in our successes.
*If you like the sound of this gig but are afraid you might not be as qualified as some of the other folks out there, we still encourage you to apply. We’re most interested in the types of intangibles that don’t fit on a traditional resume (for example, we don’t care what school you went to, as long as you’re passionate about learning). Our number one priority is to build a diverse team of people whose individual skills balance and complement one another. We hire great people from a wide breadth of backgrounds, not
only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it makes our work, our company and our communities stronger.
We're an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
Who Are We?
We’re Dad Grass. We’re an independent, founder-led company based in Los Angeles. We started making hemp CBD joints in Spring of 2020 and haven’t looked back since. You should be able to get a sense of our vibe from our website and Instagram. You can also read what Vice, GQ, and Refinery 29 recently said about how we do things. Behind the scenes, we’re just a group of straight-up, well-intentioned people trying to build a brand and business that we can all be proud of. We’re a small team that isn’t afraid to think big or dive into the details. We like to tell meaningful stories. We obsess over everything we make.
And we work really hard, but we smile while doing it. As we always say, if you’re not having fun building a weed brand---you must be doing something wrong. Let’s have a little fun, shall we?
Note - DM’s will not be responded to.
Thank you!
