Position Summary
The IACUC Manager promotes the integrity of animal subject research by designing and determining the overall programmatic procedures and processes for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), providing responsible oversight supervision and management of all activities related to the IACUC, serving as University point of contact for federal inspectors and accrediting agencies, investigating campus violations regarding IACUC matters, executive point of contact for complex research projects, IACUC budgetary authority, review of complex protocols for compliance with federal and other regulatory agencies, provides guidance and representation to Kuali Protocols to ensure problems or enhancements to the system are appropriately addressed.
This position is expected to be on-site part time, for example, during facility inspections, external agency inspections, and as needed. The VPR Office supports flexible work arrangements for employees, including limited teleworking privileges. Read more here:

Required Job Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Current national accreditation as a Certified Professional in IACUC Administration or will be CPIA eligible within one year.
- At least five-years experience in the area of regulatory compliance, research administration or laboratory management.
- Knowledge/experience in scientific research.
- Knowledge of PHS/OLAW, USDA and AAALAC animal regulations, policies and guidelines,
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience with Kuali Protocol or similar protocol submission system.
- Proficiency with computer software packages (Microsoft Office Suite) including word processing and databases.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Ability to interact with a variety of individuals including faculty, administrators, government officials, colleagues, and support staff.

- Establishes IACUC Committee budget and allocation of resources.
- Represents IACUC in an official capacity regarding overall strategy, program reviews, inspections, agency, institutional and internal correspondence, policy interpretation to stakeholders.
- Functional lead IACUC liaison between federal regulatory agencies (i.e., USDA, OLAW) and CSU and point of contact for federal inspections and/or audits of CSU Animal Care and Use Program (facilities and PI coordination).
- Investigates, gathers information, tracks and records federal regulatory and institutional policy noncompliance.
- Ensures and directs committee operations for compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Analyzes and monitors current and proposed federal and state regulations and interpretations related to research compliance and implements necessary changes, in coordination with committee Chair and other related administrative positions, such as the Director of Laboratory Animal Resources, the Attending Veterinarian, Office of Research Collaboration and Compliance (ORCC )senior leadership, and the Institutional Official.
- Works collaboratively with the IACUC Chair to ensure appropriate committee actions are carried out.

The IACUC Manager promotes the integrity of animal subject research by designing and determining the overall programmatic procedures and processes for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), providing responsible oversight supervision and management of all activities related to the IACUC, serving as University point of contact for federal inspectors and accrediting agencies, investigating campus violations regarding IACUC matters, executive point of contact for complex research projects, IACUC budgetary authority, review of complex protocols for compliance with federal and other regulatory agencies, provides guidance and representation to Kuali Protocols to ensure problems or enhancements to the system are appropriately addressed.

Duty/Responsibility
- Review and negotiation of Clinical Trial Agreements, Government, Non-Profit, and Industry Sponsored Agreements.
- Understand and appropriately apply FAR and UG to University research contracts.
- Provides administrative oversight to the team negotiating industry, government, and non-profit contracts, outgoing subwards, and other sponsored program contractual agreements such as NDAs, MTAs, and MOUs.
- Collaborates with PI, department, college, Translational Medicine Institute, and IRB staff to develop and negotiate Clinical Trial Agreements with sponsors.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for Industry Contracts and policy specialist for FAR and DFAR regulations.
- Reviews and modifies Intellectual Property, Indemnification, Choice of Law provisions along with Federal Flow through clauses to negotiate language most favorable to the University and Investigators. Assists the Post Award Teams in reviewing awards/contracts for compliance with CSU policies, identifying and resolving problematic terms and conditions and issues unique to collaborations. Provides input to faculty on contractual obligations of an award from a legal/agreement perspective.
- Collaborates with multiple OVPR units on Alliance Management of large scale, multi-point research activities.
- Liaises with compliance offices (RICRO, Export Control, Data Security), Office of General Counsel, IT to manage policies and procedures related to research collaborations.
- Negotiates agreements with industry partners and non-profits.
- Maintains a library of agreements and clauses for unique collaboration situations. Represents OSP/research administration at various CSU industry/university collaboration meetings.
- Educates and informs the CSU community on policies and procedures impacting the day to day management of research collaborations with industry partners.
- Engages with external entities such as CSU Ventures, CSU Foundations, and multiple OVPR units in areas of overlap with Sponsored Programs.
- Provides expert guidance on the laws and regulations surrounding Cannabis research on campus and serves on the University’s CHRAC Committee.
- Coordinates with a wide variety of sponsors, researchers, OGC, OVPR, and CSU’s Research Integrity and Compliance Review Office as related to IACUC, IRB, IBC approvals, as well as GxP/Quality Assurance and Export
