Position Title: Junior Grower

Clearwater Organic Farms is a hydroponic greenhouse producer located in Taylorville, IL. We produce, distribute, and sell our produce to local markets, year-round. The facility is now ready for growth in production and ramping up to build our business and meet our customer’s needs. Job Summary:
The Junior Grower is responsible for assisting certain aspects of the seeding and greenhouse operations including, but not limited to: the daily operations regarding seeding and planting, inventories, IPM practices, data collection, scheduling, pool water adjustments, and maintaining optimal greenhouse conditions. This position will supplement leadership in operation and cover for the growers, when not present. The Assistant works closely with Quality Control, Production, and Maintenance departments. The Grower assistant is responsible for helping the grower ensure the greenhouse is running at the most optimal conditions, plant health and quality are maintained at quality specifications, and the scheduling of the crop harvest is in line with production goals. Essential Job Functions:
- Promote a culture of safety, assuring that all staff works their job duties with safety being top priority
- Provide leadership and direction, to greenhouse crew
- Maintain compliance with all GFSI, DNR, EPA, USDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices and Primus Programs.
· Assist the grower in monitoring plant health and performance from seed to harvest
· Assist and work with other members of the staff to improve crop efficiency and yield
· Follow and implement company standards for safety and food safety
· Participate in day to day greenhouse operations from seeding to harvest and eventually be able lead in several key areas
· Understand and participate with the grower in controlling setpoints for all environmental controls in the greenhouse
· Work with the grower on pool nutrients additions and adjustments
· Work with grower on product quality and pest control management

Qualifications:
- Greenhouse or Horticulture experience
- Leadership experience preferred
- Good Leadership skills and Management skills
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred (i.e. Horticulture, Agronomy, Biology, Botany etc.) or commensurate experience
- Leading small to large teams and providing strategic direction
- Good Communication (Written / Verbal) skills, organized, goal oriented, accountable
- High documentation and written procedure skills
- Detail oriented and ability to multi-task in high stress environment
- Must be competent in the Microsoft Office suite of products and computer savvy
- Agile, able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to perform all job duties of processing plant personnel
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in various climate conditions including extreme heat and cold environments, walking, standing and sitting for long periods of time

· Ability and willingness to help cover weekend days after first 30-45 days of training
