The Continuous Improvement Practitioner (CIP) will support operations in the development and implementation of long-term strategic plans to involve all operations personnel in the pursuit of a lean manufacturing environment that lowers production costs, creates a learning environment and builds a CI mindset. The CIP supports operations by expanding the knowledge of the AOPEX (Ascend Operations Excellence) process and coordinates with every department to execute implementation plans. Develops and maintains training and tracking standards.The CIP reports directly to the Director of Operations
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs plant interventions and coordinates data driven initiatives to improve process flow and reduce cost
- Facilitates focused improvement projects to eliminate waste, drives overall efficiency and improves quality.
- Implements common corporate CI systems (Roadmap development, 5S, department line performance boards, Gemba tiered R and R, Leadership SW, Gap Closure, constraint reduction, SRC, etc.)
- Responsible for helping the plant leadership team achieve business KPI’s through implementation of AOPEX
- Works with plant leadership team to develop high performance production teams
- Works as a AOPEX Practitioner with the site director and corporate CI resource to build skills in plant pillar teams and facilitate improvement efforts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management
- 3+ years of lean experience in cannabis or a complex manufacturing environment.
- Experience in leading Lean focused improvements, Boot Camps, kaizen workshops in the areas of: 5S, standard work, visual management, daily management, SMED, theory of constraint, zero loss analytics.
- Lean or 6 Sigma Black Belt certification preferred
- Maintenance/manufacturing/engineering/QA/QS experience preferred
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams to implement cost savings projects across the site
- Solid systems understanding and ability to identify improvements needed
- Creative problem solving and innovative approaches to resolve complex problems
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to effectively interface within all levels of the organization
Strong analytical skills using tools such as KPI data, statistics, downtime tracking, project planning to identify opportunity areas.
