Full Job Description
Job Title: Retail Inventory Specialist
Days: Monday through Friday (5 days a week)
Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (hours may vary slightly based on operational need)
Department: Inventory Operations
Reports to: Inventory Manager(s)/General Manager
Supervises (# of employees): 0
Exempt/Non-exempt: Non-exempt
Position Overview
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for the post-production/shipment handling of all Pre-packaged Cannabis Products. Duties performed include the counting, handling, and labeling of all bulk products from our vendors. The Inventory Specialist reports directly to the Inventory Manager and/or the General Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain Store Menu and Product Testing Accuracy
- Intake Product Shipments form our vendors and enter them into METRC
- Counting, sorting, labeling, and handling of cannabis products such as flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, etc. for recreational sale (this also includes glass & accessories)
- Create and apply labeling in accordance with product information, testing results, and other required information
- Maintain forms and database to precisely record weight, product count, and any relevant issues for all products
- Assemble, Tag, and label boxes for finished product storage and shipping
- Accurately measure, count, and handle products into containers
- Thoroughly clean the containers, materials, supplies, and work areas, using cleaning solutions in accordance with the relevant SOPs
- Responsible for operating a variety of batching, and packaging machinery
- Maintaining quality control by visually inspecting cannabis products and packaging to ensure consistency in product standards; ensuring labeling and product counts are accurate
- Inventory of cannabis products upon receipt and distribution to and from the department
- Assisting in the loading, unloading, and inventory of cannabis packaging, supplies and materials
- Adhering to production schedules
- Weighing and processing waste material in accordance with state regulations (935 CMR 500.000) and company policies and procedures
- Effectively communicate any issues or constructive criticism with product packaging directly to Inventory Manager
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (100 pounds with assistance)
- Fine motor skills and ability to use hands and fingers to precisely and accurately fill, package, and label products
- Close visual acuity in order to read fine print on product labels and equipment screens
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma required
- Prior inventory experience a plus
- Experience using inventory software and Excel a plus
- Must have a strong work ethic and ability to work well on a team
- Must be detail oriented and self-motivated
- Ability and willingness to work overtime a plus
- Good verbal and written skills
- Must be able to pass an CCC background check

- Prior experience working within the cannabis industry
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and be flexible

- Inventory Management - Drive and track inventory strategies that ensure efficient product profit margins and overall volume of sales. Assist AXTs responsible for execution of customer order processing, processing and vendor transportation through state certified Cannabis Cultivators and delivery to Apotho Therapeutics.
- Planning - Develop short and long term plans to ensure Logistics resources and practices, at all locations, are consistent with company’s strategic goals and growth plans. Collaborating with the AXT changes in business climate and ensure solutions are in place to meet or exceed them.
- Team Leadership - Lead and develop a inventory management team, building on talent and ensuring appropriate succession plans. Analyze current methods, and collaboratively improve or implement new processes, workflows, and technology solutions that maximize effi Build relationships with key partners, and business leaders ensuring open lines of communication and maintain ongoing dialog regarding priorities and direction. Develop and leverage key external relationships (vendors, government, etc.) for the beneï¬t of the company.
Education and Experience:
- BS/B.A. degree in Business and/or a related field.
- 5 years in management experience in a consumer goods environment. Experience should include management/ leadership roles of one or more sites with some experience with inventory and systems management.
