Community Wellness and Youth Education Manager is responsible for managing the programs in the Community Wellness and Youth Education Unit in the Community Based Prevention Section within the Office of Healthy & Safe Communities. This position provides leadership in strategic planning for program implementation and outcomes; vision for overall program focus and direction; selection, supervision, mentoring and, if necessary, discipline of staff; and establishes and maintains key stakeholder relationships. Our Community Wellness and Youth Education Manager is responsible for directing a group of activities and functions that provide support to the Youth
Cannabis and Commercial Tobacco Prevention, Oral Health, and Comprehensive Cancer Control programs, as well as various coverage needs for cross-section programs at the direction of the Section Manager.
Our Community Wellness and Youth Education Manager is tasked with building and fostering strong partnerships within the Department of Health, across state agencies, and with health systems and other community-based organizations. This position resides in the Community Based Prevention Section with the Office of Healthy and Safe Communities.

The incumbent may be located anywhere within the State of Washington. Telework (mobile work) is currently expected. When approved, the incumbent will work with their supervisor to identify an appropriate work schedule and balance including telework and reporting to the Tumwater, WA duty station for work activities as needed.

The DESIRED candidate profile:
NOTE: All relevant experience including lived, volunteer, or professional, or a combination of experience and education that demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.
- Option 1: Six (6) or more years of experience managing or supervising professional staff, preferably in a health-related field. Experience should include developing work plans, setting direction for work, coordinating work among team members, monitoring performance, acting as a subject matter expert; AND the following experience:
- Three (3) or more years of consultative experience in a public health-related program.
- Using electronic mail and the internet.
- Basic level experience using Excel and Word.
- Using PowerPoint to create training materials.
- Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree; AND five (5) or more years of management or consultative experience in a health services program.
- Option 3: A Master’s degree or higher; AND three (3) or more years of management or consultative experience in a health services program.
As well as demonstrated experience in the following leadership competencies:

Compensation This position reports to the Community Based Prevention Section Manager within the Office of Healthy and Safe Communities. Learn more about the Washington Management Service.
The annual compensation is between
$78,408 and $105,384, depending upon qualifications.
