We are looking for an experienced Manager, Butane Extraction to join our team; you will be reporting to the Plant Manager. The Manager, Butane Extraction will manage the laboratory and work with material for extraction; schedule and perform regular maintenance; cleaning and repairs of all equipment; schedule and maintain testing for research and development as well as state compliance; maintain extractions laboratory equipment performance.
** To be considered for this position, a BS/BA Degree in Chemistry/Engineering or related field plus 5+ years of relevant experience in process management in a pharmaceutical, dietary supplement manufacturing, or similar industry required.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate extractor staff schedule
- Oversee extraction, production, planning and processing, and scheduling
- Forecasting and budgeting for department
- Work directly with the Executive Management team to define expected outcomes, identify issues and resolve through corrective action
- Interview and hire new employees
- Coach, mentor, and discipline employees
- Create and manage KPI’s for department
- Develop and implement SOP's for all required production processes
- Preparation of equipment and plant materials for extraction
- Maintain extraction production logs
- Maintain strict quality control measures to ensure inventory records and high-quality product, materials and equipment
- Ensure the consistency and efficiency of product through quality control testing and procedures
- Keep a clean and safe work environment, including maintaining, cleaning, and making adjustments and repairs to extraction equipment per CAL-OSHA
- Carry out day to day tasks including, prepping, extracting, and packaging
- Monitor and maintain production of the facility in accordance with the safety and sanitation laws, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Operate, maintain, and make adjustments to extraction laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, scales, glassware, evaporators, distillation, and other laboratory equipment following current good practices and standard operating procedures.
- Plan and manage production schedules that effectively leverage capacity, labor, and materials to meet volume, cost, and quality goals.
- Ensure that the regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental, and documentation requirements and all other data generated by the laboratory team meets quality control requirements.
- Maintain accountability and inventory of all supplies, raw materials, finished products. and equipment by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Experience with utilization and/or implementation of METRC software, ERP systems, digital inventory systems, and data analysis tools a definite plus.
- Demonstrated confidence, including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- BS/BA Degree in Chemistry/Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in process management in a pharmaceutical, dietary supplement manufacturing, or a similar industry. Licensed cannabis manufacturing experience preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to pass a background check or obtain a cannabis agent card if needed per BCC/CDPH regulations.
- ISO and LEAN manufacturing experience preferred.
