Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the VP of Finance/Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing the General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions and the financial services area including A/R and A/P. The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with 10-12 years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.

Functional Tasks:

• As the head accounting person for the company, plans and directs all aspects of the accounting department’s team and operations, overseeing all transactions and technical accounting issues related to general ledger, receivables, payables, and SEC reporting.
• Analyzing company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
• Providing strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
• Developing and maintaining all necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting.
• Ensuring books and records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Assisting senior management in financial planning and results management. Work with other team members to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
• Coordinating, preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Coordinating and/or preparing tax schedules, returns and information.
• Managing all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
• Expected to manage the accounting department towards efficient and value-added processes and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ensures that the accounting department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities, noted above. Responsible for continued development of these team members.
• Work with CFO / Treasurer to manage cash flow and debt compliance.
• Oversight and maintenance of the Company’s financial model
• Interacting with board of directors.
• Other finance and administrative duties as required.

Preferred Experience/Education

The following indicates specific industry, academic and functional experience/qualifications that are important to the successful achievement of the identified responsibilities and performance deliverables:

• Minimum of 8-10 years of work experience, including public company experience.
• BA / BS in Accounting or Finance
• Experience with preparing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
• Experience in implementing accounting and reporting standards
• Strong technical accounting background with thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and SEC reporting standards
• Experience in the Cannabis industry preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $225,000.00 per year
