JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sr. Grower, the Growing Associate is responsible for ensuring crops are grown optimally and on time to meet internal specifications. This person will be detail-oriented, driven by challenge, and successful in a fast-paced working environment. This position requires an energetic, motivated, and self-actualized individual that demonstrates leadership. This person will have the opportunity to take ownership of his/her area and cross-train with other technicians in the area to become more valuable for Soli and provide support as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the quality of the crops to be grown under best practices.
- Monitor and report environmental conditions of greenhouse
- Scout daily for insects and disease pressure in crops
- Assist in applying biological control agents
- Responsible for all operational requirements in the assigned greenhouse. This includes maintenance notification, irrigation, fertilization, growing environment monitoring, sanitation efforts, etc.
- Responsible for the daily review of the crop quality. Any issues are to be raised with immediately so action can be taken
- Responsible for minor maintenance repairs or for notifying maintenance of any concerns which could result in delays because of equipment maintenance issues
- Responsible for following all Food safety requirements for production in this area or on this equipment. This includes any logs or SOP’s
- Responsible for operating the machinery / equipment in a professional, safe manner, as determined by Occupational safety rules or manufacturer’s instructions
- Keeps a weekly inventory and fill out reports as required by the Grow team
- Other duties as needed/assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Undergraduate degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field
- High School and equivalent years of experience in a growing position. Experience must include hands-on responsibility for the full scope production activities, both operations and analysis
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 5 yrs. of experience in a related position with an emphasis in an operations production/manufacturing environment
- Prior experience with OSHA, HACCP, and GMPs
- Bilingual, English & Spanish

JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Greenhouse Grower will work with the location’s management team to ensure that all aspects of growing processes are operating effectively. The Sr. Grower coordinates efforts aimed at optimizing all aspects of the site’s product growing function throughout the entire growth process, including but not limited to, team management, plant handling, collection and analysis of environmental and production data. A big component of this position is the ability to consistently deliver on high priority projects simultaneously as well as assist all Farm Operations teams and management in a wide range of different activities. This position reports to General Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Responsible for the environmental climate control, overseeing agriculture equipment and instruments, such as heating systems, humidity controls, irrigation systems, fertilizer units, water storage tanks, electrical and computer systems and controls
· Utilizes and integrates new and existing growing technology
· Oversees crop production in assigned areas
· Analyzes insect and disease conditions and implements appropriate control measures
· Develops crop fertilization plan and oversees fertilization of crops by Growers and Grower Assistants
· Maintains pesticide and irrigation records up to date
· Researches and compiles safety controls procedures
· Performs fertilizers calculations
· Supervises and directs the assigned Assistant Growers and Growers
· Determines biological orders based on scouting & reports
· Works closely with the Site General Manager to achieve maximum growth & crop production
· Responsible for developing seeding plan with the site General Manager
· Assists the General Manager with budget development and expense allocation
· Reports any departmental discrepancies or problems to the site General Manager
· Monitors production at off-site facility Leads ongoing growth activities and communicates effectively with all management
· Provides technical expertise to Greenhouse personnel
· Assists in scheduling of planting, fertilization, and harvesting
· Monitors crops for optimal growth
· Ensures safety as number one priority and conducts daily self-checks of all assigned areas as also, promotes safety with actions and corrects unsafe findings immediately
· Adheres to all safety and food safety guidelines
· Reports and is accountable for notifying the site General Manager of observed safety concerns.
· Maintains a clean working environment
· Leads and motivates people
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, foreign equivalent or related field required
· 7 Years of growing experience in greenhouse and irrigation systems.
· Working knowledge of quality systems, food safety programs, GMPs, food defense, and HACCP
· Ability to identify insects and plant diseases
· Highly proficient in knowledge of fertilization calculations
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Bi-lingual English & Spanish preferred
· Valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
