Position Summary
The School of Public Health at the University of Memphis invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in substance use disorders treatment research
. The broader area of research includes efficacy and effectiveness of psychosocial and pharmacologic treatment of substance use disorders including opioids, methamphetamines, cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, and polydrug use and service provisions to substance-using populations in remote areas. A number of publicly accessible national level datasets and regional quantitative and qualitative data collected using federal grants are available to develop manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals using mixed methods. The preceptor, Dr. Satish Kedia, PhD, MPH, has active grants and collaborates with inpatient and outpatient treatment programs that address a range of substance use and mental health issues. The successful candidate will work closely with the preceptor to manage substance use disorder projects, develop collaborative manuscripts, and prepare grant applications from a multidisciplinary perspective.
The anticipated start date is July 31, 2022 or earlier.
Minimum Position Qualifications
The candidate should have a Ph.D. (or have successfully defended dissertation prior to the start date) in a relevant discipline such as Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology, Sociology, or Anthropology.
Special Conditions
The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research as a part of the team in close supervision of the preceptor, develop collaborative manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, prepare abstracts and present at the professional conferences, write grant proposals, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Candidates with strong interests in working in a collaborative environment and who have proven writing skills are highly encouraged to apply.
The initial appointment is for one year with possible renewal, depending on availability of funding.
