Summary
This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the laboratory, the organization of supplies, reagents. Additionally, this position is responsible for preparation of Cannabis samples for potency, terpenes and other safety tests, the daily calibration and/or verification of the balances and micropipette. The employee will have basic knowledge of commonly used laboratory concepts, practices, procedures and instrumentation and will perform limited tests under supervision.
This is a safety sensitive position as defined by state and federal laws that will require working with hazardous materials and/or handling cannabis samples. As a "safety sensitive" classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing.
Essential Functions
- Maintains cleanliness of the laboratory.
- Removes waste from the laboratory to the proper storage locations.
- Maintains inventory of solvents, reagents, supplies and standards and notifies appropriate personnel when such items must be replenished.
- Physically removes expired reagents and standards and ensures their removal from the electronic inventory system.
- Participates in waste disposal under the direction of the sample administrator.
- Performs daily verification of the analytical balances and micro-pipettes.
- Washes glassware.
- Prepares solutions and extractions of cannabis samples as needed under supervision.
- Performs basic testing and provides proper documentation for those tests.
- Performs peer review of laboratory notebooks.
- Maintains work list such that samples are tested within completion requirements.
- Adherence to all Sunrise Lab safety standards, policies, procedures and protocols.

- Ability to listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences.
- Knowledge and ability to use standard lab equipment, balances, extraction equipment, etc.
- Ability to work effectively with employees, management, customers, etc.
- Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, safety regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
- Must understand and comply with laboratory standard procedures (SOPs)
- Must be familiar with OSHA guidelines for dealing with hazardous chemicals.
Work Environment This job operates in a laboratory environment. Attendance at the office is required.While performing the duties of the job the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or hazardous chemicals. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, and lab coat. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.Additional Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must pass any and all required background checks
- Must be and remain compliant with any and all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting preferred
- Ability to work independently, manage projects and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Working Conditions:
- The work for this position is performed in a laboratory setting.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds, may include standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
