DISPENSARY TECHNICIAN
Reports To: Pharmacist on Duty (Dispensary Facility Manager or Assistant Manager)
Job Summary: Responsible for assisting patients and caregivers while selecting appropriate medication under supervision of pharmacist and assuring that no patient is left unattended. Complete, if necessary, POS transaction. Conduct day-to-day operations within the dispensary as assigned.
Responsibilities:
· Remain current on CT medical marijuana regulations and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) policies and regulations
· Maintain knowledge of dispensary protocols and SOPs
· Learn how to use patient ID verification scanner, label printer & barcode scanner
· Learn how to use POS system
· Maintain knowledge on the various brands, forms and methods of delivery offered through the dispensary
· Maintain knowledge of basic understanding of the extraction and formulation processes
· Update knowledge on current research on all cannabinoids and how they affect the body
· Create and verify patient invoices prior to sending to pharmacist for final approval
· Collect patient information and experience with brands, forms and methods of delivery for pharmacist review
· Verify patient balance available
· Perform continual organizational and maintenance tasks during slow periods of business
· Assist in inventory of dispensary products and maintain labeling system of each in-stock item
· Print patient labels as required
· Understand dispensary’s dual control systems
· Consistent in open and honest communication with management and co-workers
· Assist in updating website
Qualifications:
· Must be 18 years of age or older
· Must pass a criminal background check and never have been convicted for any type drug offense
· Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to calmly manage difficult or emotional situations
· Focuses on solving conflicts and keeps emotions under control
· Understands the importance of confidentiality
· Speaks clearly and persuasively but listens to others to get clarification
· Responds well to questions and demonstrates good presentation skills
· Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs
· Presents numerical data effectively
· Able to read and interpret written information
· Demonstrates ability to learn and retain rapidly
· Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others’ views; gives and welcomes constructive feedback
· Basic MS Office skills
· Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; works with integrity and upholds organizational values
· Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
· May require some in state travel
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Education:
- High school Diploma or GED required
- 1 year professional experience in a retail pharmacy
Training:
- Complete software instruction on the state chosen seed to sale software system, and any back-up POS system installed by the dispensary.
- Complete conflict resolution training
- Complete on-going training as required
- Complete orientation training program
- Training on ID scanner, barcode scanner, tablets and label printer
