Pacific Ag, LLC (PA) was established in 1998 and is headquartered in Hermiston, Oregon. The company harvests and markets agricultural residue and purpose grown forage crops for domestic and international animal markets and is a national leader in the emerging, cellulosic based bio-fuel market. During the past four years PA has been expanding its activities from the Pacific Northwest to locations in Kansas, Oklahoma, North Carolina and the Midwest, and is seeking to fill this key position to meet very dynamic growth opportunities in the coming years.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This position represents PA's services, value’s, and mission to growers and to the community. The Grower Relationship Manager is responsible for securing grower participation in PA’s residue harvesting and/or hay crop production that meets goals for location and productivity while ensuring balanced residue management and best agronomic practices are followed that meet grower, product quality, and budget requirements. This position broadly directs harvest crews while ensuring timely information flow from field to office pertaining to grower participation, harvest progress, and inventory information. This position provides a vital role in scheduling and overseeing shipments stack by stack, year-round with PA’s Logistics team, minding growers’ movement needs and end user quality needs. This position also contributes to all efforts and initiatives that develop harvestable or purchasable supplies of residues or hay crops.
KEY PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Grower participation and retention that meets acreage, location, and volume goals
- Locations and quality of fields that support deployment of harvest crews that supports equipment utilization goals
- Accurate field stack location and follow up on movement that is coordinated with delivery goals, grower needs, end user needs
- Grower payables
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Grower relationship management
- Consistent use of CRM (customer relationship management) tools for forecasting and tracking acreage signups to goals
- Harvest season planning and grower participation commitments to meet acreage and inventory goals
- Deployment and scheduling of harvest crews to grower fields throughout harvest season
- Timely submission of field documents to office administration team
- Mapping and tracking of fields being harvested
- Maintaining a strong safety culture and practices
- Market reads on relevant crops and other resources affecting goals
- Material movement throughout the year off the farm that supports healthy relationships and logistics planning and efficiency
QUALIFICATIONSI. EDUCATION
- Some college in a related field preferred; college degree highly desired
- Argronomic-related training preferred
II. EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience and success in agronomic services, sales, and/or management
- Proven follow through and teamwork skills
III. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Professional values match PA’s core values
- Knowledge of PA’s harvesting areas in Oregon and nearby parts of Washington
- Ability to develop and service grower relationships within a tight community
- Ability to work demanding harvest schedules in a pace with grain/seed/hay harvests
- Ability to manage grower relationships and needs, and maintain communication during off season as well as harvest season
- Effective written and verbal business communication skills
- Working knowledge of technologies such as computers (including laptops), tablets, and mapping programs in performance of duties
- Hay and straw harvesting experience preferred
- Mechanical trouble shooting skills preferred
- Ability to work independently while taking direction as needed
- Some overnight travel
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Driving, standing, walking, some lifting, some office work
- Field time with exposure to weather such as wind, dust, and variable temperatures
- Regular exposure to operating equipment and field conditions
