JOB TITLE: Adult Use Recreational Cannabis Field Lead
HOURS: 40 hours/week - 1:00-9:00 - Sunday-Thursday
SALARY: $16-17/hour
TECH STIPEND: $175/month
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: The Montana Public Interest Research Group (MontPIRG) is a student directed and funded nonpartisan organization dedicated to affecting tangible, positive change through educating and empowering the next generation of civic leaders.
CAMPAIGN DESCRIPTION: MontPIRG is engaging in a campaign to pass two Adult Use CannabisLegalization initiatives that will be on the ballot this year. The MontPIRG Field Lead will be responsible for overseeing MontPIRG phone canvassers who will work from home making phone calls to voters across Montana to speak to them about the issue and identify their level of support or opposition. FieldLead will participate in all phone calling while helping ensure each calling night runs smoothly. Field lead will be trained on troubleshooting MontPIRG’s phone system and will assist phone canvassers if issues arise. Field lead will report to Deputy Director daily.
POSITION REPORTS TO: Deputy Director
LOCATION: 141 Corbin Hall, Missoula, MT 59812
JOB DUTIES:
- Be the face of MontPIRG and the issues that we work on
- Educate Montana residents about MontPIRG’s Adult Use Recreational Marijuana Campaign
- Meet daily phone call requirements
- Manage and assist MontPIRG Phone Canvassers
- Recruit new members and building an active volunteer base
- Keep consistent records on campaign activities
- Report daily to the Deputy Director/Field Director
- Be adaptable: canvassers’ day-to-day work may change
- Maintain proper public health and social distancing guidelines
- Show up to work on time, and if unable to make it to work due to illness or emergency, will contact MontPIRG and provide as much notice as possible
REQUIREMENTS:
- Have reliable access to computer/laptop
- Have access to stable internet connection
- Have a working phone
- Have a space where you can make calls from home without interruptions or distractions
- 18 years or older
- Experience with Phone Canvassing or Political Organizing
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- An outgoing personality with strong interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to engage a diverse audience with comfort and confidence
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- A passion for protecting Montana’s outdoor heritage
- A self starter attitude with the ability to take initiative on individual projects
- The ability to work well independently and in cooperative settings
- A strong desire to defend our right to vote and make our democracy accessible to all Montanans
- A commitment to public health
- No experience necessary, but phone canvass experience preferred
START DATE: September 8th
