POSITION SUMMARY
A Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all Higher Leaf employees and customers while on the premises.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNT-ABILITIES
- Check for valid, government issued identification of anyone entering the store who has a “youthful appearance” and ensuring that the ID belongs to the person who presented it
- Scan all Vertical IDs
- Successfully Identify fake IDs
- Turn away visitors who do not have valid identification.
- Watch customers and proactively looking for potential issues in the store
- This position requires attention and focus.
- Sign in all guests and vendors into Visitor Log.
- Supervise the parking lots for potential issues and mischief.
- Sweeping the parking lot, looking for open packages and disposing of them appropriately.
- Intervening with any escalated customer situations - with a goal of deescalation
- Following Security Procedures in the event of Armed Robbery or Larceny
- Notify appropriate manager of any incidents and write an incident report
- Documenting any incidents of 86ing a customer from the store
KNOWLEDGE
- Be able to quickly determine, from a date, if a visitor is at least 21 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of various types of valid and invalid IDs
- Applicable knowledge of how to verbally de-escalate potentially hazardous situations.

- Assist customers (adults 21+) with selecting and purchasing marijuana products
- Provide excellent customer service / Educate customers about marijuana products as needed
- Responsible for keeping tidy till space and general upkeep of store front
- Follow Proper Procedures and Policies - Cash Handling, I502 Policies etc.
- Follow all security and emergency procedures
- Be a motivated team player and be willing to learn and grow.
- Complete delegated tasks in a timely manner - Stocking, Cleaning etc.
- Be Prompt and Maintain Good Attendance
- Maintain a positive work environment
KNOWLEDGE
- Must have a solid understanding of the various methods of using marijuana, the effects of different genetic varieties of marijuana (strains), and tools utilized in the consumption of marijuana products
- Maintain general working knowledge of each product that is for sale
- Maintain general working knowledge of each vendor in the store
- Maintain working knowledge of State and Federal Laws that are pertinent and ensure the company is in compliance with all laws and regulations

Please note that while shifts officially end at midnight, if it was a particularly busy day, it may take longer to get out at the end of the evening. In addition, if our store hours are extended later, shifts would end later as well.
- One On-Call Shift per week is required of all Budtenders, and if activated, is paid at 1.5x the normal pay rate, even if the on-call shift does not put the staff member into overtime (40+ hours)
