Full Job Description
The Head Grower will manage the day-to-day operations of a large-scale facility. The Head Grower is someone who lights up the charts when it comes to ensuring efficiency, refining procedures, and keeping morale high. They will be deeply involved in the training and education of the growing staff as well as in the continual process of reviewing operating procedures, guidelines, and policies. We’re looking for someone who can help develop cultural norms and organizational tools for the growing team and its daily tasks. The Head Grower position will serve as the vital link between the growing team, Human Resources and the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage a large-scale facility
- Manage all the tasks in growing including: cloning, transplanting, feeding plants, defoliation, topping, flushing, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, packaging, waste disposal and inventory management.
- Program and monitor climate control systems
- Maintain indoor cultivation protocols and a nutrient regimen per guidance
- Lead and manage assistant grower
- Perform all cultivation tracking and recordkeeping functions
- Responsible for training cultivation team
- Manage plant scheduling to accurately project all facility requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to maximize high-quality yield with efficiency and attention to production costs
- Catalog and track each individual strain from clone to harvest
- Comprehensive knowledge of cultivation facility management
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment
- Responsible for independently managing the grow in a rotational schedule on weekends
- Work with the CEO to set operational goals, compare performance to goals, and adjust goals as needed to improve operational performance
- Follow SOPs and identify opportunities for improvement and implementation of solutions
- Manage automation equipment assets, including procurement, installation, performance optimization and routine maintenance
- Build strong vendor relationships
- Reduce costs wherever possible
- Manage and report on key operational processes, financial budget and performance indicators
- Oversee greenhouse, processing, packaging, warehousing, and security for the site location with stronger focus on the general operation of the greenhouse and extraction areas.
- Oversee all operational functions of the Greenhouse and Extraction divisions of the company.
- Work closely with staff to develop growing and greenhouse utilization plans to maximize growing efficiency for products.
- Assist with managing the grow cycle including transplanting, feeding, cloning, cropping, harvesting and processing.
- Must Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
- Work collectively and respectfully with other team members and in accordance with all company HR policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, related science degree and 5+ years managing professional production agriculture environment, Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of commercial greenhouse experience
- Proven strategic experience in overseeing all aspects of professional production
- Knowledgeable of growing methods including micronutrients, beneficial bacteria, and nutrient implementation
- Knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi, as well as plant treatment options
- Strong knowledge of plant varieties with high yield and /or disease and insect resistant characteristics
- Experience building and managing high performance teams.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking
- Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
- Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Must have a solid understanding of the Hemp laws, rules and regulations set forth by the state; a pursuit to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws

Sales Representative
Mid-American Growers is seeking a skilled and experienced Sales Representative to assist our Director of Sales and senior management in the overall strategy and management of our sales plan and wholesale partnerships. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing the sales of our hemp and CBD portfolio through effective planning, selling, merchandising and communication that permits achievement of company objectives. This is an exciting relationship-driven business that requires strategic sales ability, cannabis knowledge and exceptional customer service skills.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Clearly communicate the value of our hemp products
- Manage existing client relationships
- Develop a plan to establish and meet/exceed sales goals
- Identify new business opportunities
- Manage the sales departments involvement in the fulfillment process
- Target, qualify and pursue leads in accordance with company’s mission and vision
- Plan and perform sales calls, appointments, and site visits
- Create opportunities through a high volume of contact calls to potential clients
- Provide accurate log for all scheduled and completed meetings with potential and existing clients
- Close sales by building rapport with potential clients, explaining product, and following up
- Provide excellence in customer service to manage and grow client accounts
- Establish and maintain professional and ethical working relationships with all clients and company staff
- Plan and implement successful marketing, distribution, and sale of products
- Prepare and present professional sales presentations to customers by combining both the company’s priorities and customers’ needs.
- Understand company pricing and product programming information on a monthly basis by maintaining accurate and up to date records.
- Conduct promotions in accounts on a regular basis or when required
- Develop new accounts
- Handle customer inquiries regarding credit, delivery, product information and other questions as they arise
- Execute monthly goals as related to business activities
- Maintain a regular schedule of weekly appointments with accounts in assigned area
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or Communications preferred
- Experience in the hemp and cannabis markets preferred
- CPG Background preferred
- Successful previous experience (minimum 5 years) as a sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
- Proven ability to drive the sales process from lead to close
- Proven ability to lead a team to meet quotas
