OBJECTIVE
The responsibility of the Assistant Grower is to assist the Head Grower in executing various programs and processes throughout the production lifecycle. Work alongside crew members in all functional areas to ensure tasks are being completed in accordance with company standards, and maintaining the vitality of all plants. Communication with the Head Grower is required to review and prioritize daily task lists and assist Crew Leaders in the training and development of Greenhouse technicians.

- Execute various plant programs developed by the Head Grower through the correct application and timing of products including pesticides, insecticides and other biologicals to ensure plant vitality
- Review and communicate Head Grower's daily task list to the Crew Leaders to ensure crew members are competing tasks in an accurate and timely manner
- Assist the crew members in the execution of all delegated task list items
- Provide training to new and existing horticultural technicians for tasks related to spacing, pinching, proper watering methods and any biological applications, communicating any updates or changes to the production method
- Identify and communicate any issues related to plant discrepancies, system issues, or process execution to the Head Grower or General Manager in a timely manner
- Provide Head Grower with daily progress updates noting and communicating any adjustments to task priority
- Review and evaluate the various processes, programs and staffing needs to offer informed recommendations to the Head Grower to improve and optimize the quality and production of products
- Assist in the selection and movement of inventory as needed or directed by facility management
- Complete all other tasks as assigned by management

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree in horticultural sciences or other related field and 0-2 years' of industry experience required. Massachusetts Greenhouse Pesticide License preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook and Word.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in an active growing facility environment. This job may be either indoors or outdoors or both.

Objective: To produce superior quality plant material in the most efficient way, while training and developing a team of growers.
- Direct Assistant Growers to monitor ranges for optimum crop quality, climate, and correct placement.
- Responsible for directing all aspects of growing, including watering, fertilizing, spraying, and soil testing and water testing.
- Monitor incoming plugs and preform quality checks.
- Provide direction to Production Lead to ensure plugs are handled and planted properly.
- Develop and document high quality standards with the goal of crop consistency.
- Conduct trials and experiments to evaluate possible improvements to the crops.
- Direct Assistant Growers to perform soil, water, and disease tests as needed
- Train Section Growers to Identify, track, and control insects using Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
- Develop and implement fertilization programs.
- Train Assistant Growers to monitor their greenhouse environments and how to adjust them seasonally,
- Assist in production planning and provide feedback on growing times and plant selection with General Manager.
- Maintain records of crop activities and observations, including pesticide applications and growth records.
- Train and develop Assistant Growers on proper spray technique and chemical handling.
- Source and order chemicals, soil, and PPE gear.
- Provide feedback for site planning, capex expenditures, and general facility maintenance.
Please have:
Strong IPM background (including use of Bilogicals)
Proficient in Q Com (Gemlink) Greenhouse system
Requirements:
5 years experience in greenhouse production
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Floriculture
Mass Pesticide Applications license
