Job Title: Assistant Grower – Trials’ Orientated
Reports To: Growers
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Coordinates trial seeding, transplanting, and harvesting. Documents during and at time of harvest – pictures, weights, and growth characteristics. Assists the Growers in implementing the entire farm site operation based on the Growers’ farm plan. Plants seeds according to preapproved farm plan. Ensure crops are seeded/planted, fed/fertilized, watered, grown, and protected from disease. Enforces site and food safety procedures and protocols. Works with and learns about other farm functional areas to ensure operation run smoothly from planting to harvest, to sales, to packaging/shipping. communicates production capabilities to harvest leads by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
1. Weighing, measuring, documenting trials in the required trial format.
2. Ensures constant care in the planting and maintenance of assigned crops as necessary to optimize quality and yields and reduce loss and waste. *
3. Engages in best practices for positive environmental impact and sustainability via site inspections, system checks (both mechanical and process), and associated recordkeeping. *
4. Keeps Growers informed on crop status and related issues. *
5. Working with and measuring essential nutrient fertilizers. *
6. Contributes to integrative pest management programs which may include scouting, record keeping, and treatments. *
7. Changing lights, wands, or other basic system parts as needed. *
8. Assist Growers with monitoring and recording fertilizer, EC and pH. *
9. Contributes to discussions and meetings regarding crop quality. *
10. Along with Growers, educate team on plant basics and train new team members. *
11. Oversees harvest operations to ensure products are harvested appropriately, correctly, identified accurately, and produces a quality product. *
12. Along with Growers, coordinates and communicates with sales personnel to attain expected quotes with harvested crops. *
13. Performs water and disease testing as necessary to determine courses of action to protect crop assets. *
14. Executes the courses of action based on the Growers’ plan with emphasis on biological solutions. *
15. Records ongoing results for study and potential modification of action plan. *
16. Responsible for temporary duties, filling in for Grower(s) or team lead if necessary, either on a short-term basis, or if the Grower(s) or team lead is unavailable. *
17. Ability and flexibility to work beyond the standard 40-hour work week as needed. *
18. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
· Requires beginner user knowledge of nursery or greenhouse or indoor operations
· Requires physical exertion as described below (e.g. lifting, bending, using implements, lab equipment, etc.)
· Must have good analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
· Must have good communications skills, both written and verbal
