Position Summary:
Juneberry Ridge is a regenerative, food-focused farm in Norwood, NC with a mission to “nourish, educate, and build a better future”. This mission drives our vision “to change the way the world grows”. We currently operate a 1,500 sqft, a 4,600 sqft and a 43,000 sqft greenhouse utilizing aquaponics, hydroponics, and nursery plant production.
The Assistant Grower will be responsible for managing and upholding the current food safety program, establishment, and growth of a market/kitchen garden, and helping to create meaningful educational experiences. The candidate should be self-motivated, self-managed, and comfortable in a leadership role. The Assistant Grower will assist with the planning, growing, and cultural care of various greenhouse production systems, as well as outdoor gardens. The Assistant Grower will help with our integrated pest management (IPM) program, the fertility program, oversight of the aquaponics, hydroponics, nursery programs, farmers markets, harvesting, transplanting, and other various aspects of the plant production cycles in place.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties (including but not limited to):
- Oversee the food safety program, including annual recertification of GAP.
- Direct, guide, and educate seasonal and part-time staff, volunteers, and interns.
- Assist with the establishment and management of market/kitchen gardens.
- Assist with Plant Nursery production.
- Assist with Aqua/Hydroponic production.
- Assist with the IPM program.
- Assist with the fertility program.
- Assist with the management of growing conditions and environmental controls in the greenhouses.
- Create and maintain accurate records, files, and inventories.
- Craft meaningful and profitable, experiential learning events.
- Expand job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal and professional networks, and joining professional organizations, where appropriate.
- Assist with creating, and manage within a budget, including business enterprise planning, capital expenditure planning and program development.
- Attend and manage seasonal Farmers Markets as assigned.
- 40 hours per week expected, ensuring jobs are completed in the time frames expected. About 3/4 of work time will be spent in the greenhouse/field, 1/8 in meetings, and 1/8 at a desk.

Job Qualifications:
- Associates degree or higher in an agriculture related field of study. Bachelor’s degree in field of plants and/or crop production, preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a greenhouse, plant nursery, and/or market/kitchen gardening setting.
- 2 years experience in a supervisory role, preferred.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Organized, creative, adaptable, and detail-oriented
- A strong ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects effectively
- Ability to lift 50lbs and work in extreme weather fluctuations
- Able to complete repeated standing tasks for long periods of time
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite.
- Comfortable with financial data and budgeting.
- Flexibility regarding hours and overall work schedule. Willingness to work farm events as needed and scheduled.
- Must pass background check.
