Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Understand and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, land allocations, farming, packing operations, inventory, labor and overheads (direct and indirect).

• Analyze actual farming costs and changes in farming practices, raw materials and land, production/plant methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.

• Compare factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services and provide management gross margin and customer contribution margin reports and analysis.

• Prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

• Make estimates of new and proposed product costs on a quarterly basis

• Develop and maintain Cost Accounting System

• Oversee physical inventories and monitors cycle count program

• Oversee reconciliation of finished goods inventories

• Identify inefficient, non-value added processes within the department and seek solutions

• Create and maintain financial models for tracking and maintaining key business metrics. Provides analysis to weekly operations meetings and monthly financial reviews of actuals versus budget, forecast and prior year.

• Track, plan, and forecast capital assets with operational counterparts; communicate status with senior staff accountant to ensure proper maintenance of fixed asset system.

• Assist in Month end close and review as needed.

• Assist with year-end and other audit data requests.

• Help prepare various tax and corporate reports as needed on a timely basis.

• Maintain well organized financial records and repositories.

• Ensure company remains compliant with GAAP and statutory financial regulations.
• Has ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

• Has excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate with all levels of management and staff while maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5+ years cumulative relevant experience (cost accounting operations) preferably in an agricultural farming/packing or manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION:

Must have a 4-year degree with concentration in Accounting, Finance or Operations Management

SKILLS:

PC Proficiency in MS Excel (must know intermediate to advance functions), Access, Word, and Power Point. Enterprise level financial systems experience required
