Job purpose
The position will be responsible for performing all the tasks in the growing process including the selection and development of genetic strains and seeds, cloning, potting and transplanting, designing and maintaining nutrient recipes, feeding plants, defoliation, topping, flushing, foliar and preventative sprays, trimming, harvesting, waste disposal and inventory management.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee cannabis crops
- Develop cultivation plans, set and meet goals and accomplish duties
- Organize and document the daily process of transplanting, cloning, defoliation and trimming of plants
- Ensure the growth requirements of cannabis plants are consistently met (lighting, soil, Ph, nutrients, etc…
- Ensuring SOP's are established, approved and followed in daily processes
- Apply indoor farming methods that increase yields
- Lead maintenance operations (including disposing waste and preventing contamination)
- Diagnose and resolve plant health issues like mold, mildew or other infestations
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail to achieve consistently high quality and yield
- Work directly Cultivation Inventory manager and Sales Team to ensure the quantity, mix and yield of strains planted and produced will support sales goals and market needs.
- Provide daily updates to the Cultivation Inventory Manager on status of harvest and dry rooms
- Ensure legal compliance of cultivation procedures are enforced
- Manage inventory and budgets related to marijuana farming (including equipment, security and HVAC systems)
- Supervise and coach employees who tend to the plants (e.g. cannabis trimmers)
- Inspect quality of harvest
- Utilization of cultivation software and Metrc to track plant development, growing stages, nutrient utilization, harvest yields, and maintaining compliance in Metrc for the CRA
- Maintain CRA Laws and Regulation expectation including Security Protocol
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent GED (General Education Diploma)
- Degree in Botany, Biology, Agriculture, Horticulture or relevant field is a plus
- Proven experience as a grower (3-5 years), preferably at a large scale.
- 2-3 years of management experience
- Knowledge of entire cannabis growth cycle and requirements
- Knowledge with environment protection practices and marijuana legal framework in Michigan
- Understanding of pest and disease management techniques
- Problem solving
- Leadership and people management skills
- Willingness to continue learning about horticulture and cannabis farming and stay on top of current and future trends
Work Environment/Physical requirements
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform manual labor tasks required for the management of a greenhouse.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
