Retail Sales Associates (RSAs) report to the Assistant Manager (AM).

Compensation: $18 per hour

Job Type: Part-time

The Successful Sales Associate will:

• Advise customers on suitable cannabis products based on their needs, preferences, budgets, and reactions to different strains of cannabis.

• Educate customers on the safe use of their selected products.

• Maintain positive customer relationships to establish a loyal customer base.

• Maintain and routinely update knowledge of new product inventory and the cannabis industry as a whole.

• Properly manage cash and process customers' payments using the store’s Point of Sale (POS) system.

• Ensure that the store is clean and well-organized at all times and assist the Inventory Manager with ensuring the sales floor is adequately stocked.

• Promote a work environment that is positive, customer-service oriented, and compliant with established policies and procedures.

Terps is a registered cannabis dispensary serving adult-use customers throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. At Terps cannabis dispensaries, we are always growing. As a brand new retailer, we are working hands-on with local cultivators to source cannabis at a higher standard. We are searching for a diverse team to help us continue to cultivate a passion for cannabis within our local communities. Position Overview: *The Budtender is responsible for possessing an expert knowledge of all products, making customers feel comfortable and engaged, and accurately completing transactions. Not only is it important to provide excellent customer service and inform customers of responsible cannabis use, but also conduct these interactions with an upbeat and educational approach. Budtenders will utilize the approved educational tools and training to assist customers in their cannabis product selection. Budtenders must expand their knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products on an ongoing basis. The Budtender also needs to familiarize themselves with all state and local regulations and ensure they consistently follow all company-established standard operating procedures. The work environment is fast-paced and requires someone who can multitask while maintaining a professional demeanor. All positions within the dispensary will be overseen by the dispensary management team as well as the VP of Retail Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Complete all necessary initial and ongoing training which includes attending meetings and other educational seminars

• Understand the importance of proper identification, general confidentiality and privacy

• Retain knowledge of the products we carry within the dispensary

• Continue to develop cannabis knowledge through 8 hours of annual training via Terps training courses

• Hold safety, security and cleanliness to a high standard when interacting with customers and co-workers

• Practice proper anti-diversion tactics

• Ensure customers are aware of compliance requirements

• Accurately record sales transactions within the point-of-sale system

• Provide excellent customer service at all times

• Be respectful and inclusive of all customers and co-workers

• Ensure that all customers are greeted and acknowledged immediately upon entry to the sales area

• Ensure inventory is accurately dispensed to customers and is maintained in an orderly and compliant fashion on the sales floor

• Count tender precisely and provide accurate change

• Complete and turn in numerically sequenced close-out sheets along with organized receipts

• Fulfill all cleaning, facility maintenance, and side work as assigned

• Support management with various administrative and miscellaneous duties when assigned

Qualifications/ Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-year Customer Service experience

• Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the US

• Must be able to pass all background checks required by the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission

• General knowledge of Cannabis products and a willingness to advance cannabis knowledge

• Excellent verbal/ written communication and listening skills

• Must be a highly energetic, positive and enthusiastic team player

Overview

Retail Sales Associates (RSAs) and Lead Retail Sale Associates (LRSAs) are responsible for sales transactions with registered medicinal marijuana patients, their registered caregivers, and retail consumers, ensuring scrupulous adherence to relevant statutes and regulations, and facility policies and procedures, governing the sale of marijuana products.

RSAs and LRSAs report to the Dispensary Manager (the “DM”).

Responsibilities

• Conducting sales transactions with patients, caregivers and retail customers, accepting tendered cash, issuing receipts, and ensuring provision of mandatory patient information and product warnings, complying fully at all times with relevant California statutes and regulations and facility policies and procedures to ensure diversion prevention, supply of marijuana only to legally authorized buyers and adherence to quantity limits.
• Counseling patients, primary caregivers and recreational consumers regarding the use of cannabis and cannabis-infused products, including dosages, forms, effects, and side effects.
• Assisting the PCM in monitoring and verifying inventory.
• For LRSAs, managing the facility in the PCM’s absence.
• Accurately inputting all necessary data regarding transactions and inventory in the POS system.
• Rigorously upholding patient and caregiver confidentiality in all respects at all times.
• Always presenting a neat and clean appearance and pleasant, polite demeanor to provisioning clients.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent spoken communication and interpersonal skills
• At least two years’ experience as a retail sales associate.
• Ability to project a professional image in the community as a representative of the facility.
• Good computer skills, ideally with experience in utilizing inventory management software.
• Ability and willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain registration with the State of California as a marijuana establishment agent.
