During the 1960s home sites were sold to individuals throughout the United States following a revolutionary new concept and design that would encourage single-family tract development, controlled architectural quality, and incorporate a vast area of natural desert into a new type of living environment. On December 10, 1965, the City of California City was incorporated with a population of 617 persons and a City Council/Manager form of government.
The main challenge for California City in the coming years will be expanding the physical infrastructure to meet anticipated development needs and to support the growth of a legal Cannabis industry.
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE OF JOB: To collect snack bar, swimming pool, and boat rental fees and maintain office and dressing room areas. To assist recreation leaders and lifeguards with special events and check out paddle boats
LEVEL OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED: Moderate
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Note: All duties are considered essential because of the limited number of persons occupying this classification.)
1. Open and secure Marina Building.
2. Clean up in and around the Marina area.
3. Collect swimming pool and boat rental fees.
4. Register patrons for special activities.
5. Operate Marina snack bar.
6. Clean and Maintain office and dressing rooms.
7. Maintain daily attendance records and accounts sheets.
8. Deposit daily receipts.
9. Answer the phone and give information about Marina's activities.
10. Maintain snack bar supplies.
11. Check out boat rentals, assisting people on and off the boats.
12. Assist with cleaning pool
13. Help recreations leaders and lifeguards with activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
a. Basic clerical and cashiering techniques
b. Variety of recreation programs
c. Able to learn CPR and First Aid
Ability to:
a. Work harmoniously and cooperatively with fellow employees and the public
b. Follow oral and written directions.
c. Prepare clear and concise reports
d. Count and write
e. Completion of Junior year high school

Oral Interview, background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug screening.
