This position is fundamental in the performance and execution of the Financial Crimes Unit’s (FCU) processes, standards, and methodologies.

The position will also be required to assess QA results to determine when issues identified are systemic in nature and require training or other remediation.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Quality Assurance (QA), Financial Crimes, or banking with the ability to support a formal QA program within the FCU. Attaining a comprehensive understanding of all FCU policies, procedures, and processes is necessary, as well as staying informed of any pending additions or changes. This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal direction and guidance and to provide best practices related to suspicious activity monitoring (SAM), customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) compliance, suspicious activity reporting (SAR), currency transaction report (CTR) filing, CTR exemptions, fraud, loss prevention, cannabis business due diligence (CBDD), and other business processes. This person will also be responsible for assessing the impact of implementing new practices, standards, FinCEN and OCC guidance as it relates to financial crimes practices across the organization.
The Senior Financial Crimes QA Analyst will support the Deputy BSA/AML Compliance Officer and assume QA supervisory responsibilities when designated or necessary. This position will report directly to the Deputy BSA/AML Compliance Officer and will work with all levels of staff and be an integral part of the FCU management team as we implement industry best practices. In addition, this position will mentor and train other team members and newly hired Financial Crimes QA Analysts.
This position will be Hybrid for our Troy, MI location.
Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor, assess, and document the performance of FCU staff in following procedures related to SAM, CDD, EDD, SAR/No SAR decisions, CTR filing and exemptions, risk assessment, OFAC/PEP reporting, fraud, loss prevention, CBDD reviews, and other business processes.
- Assess the need for additional QA processes and training opportunities within the FCU through observation, testing and collaboration with FCU management. Determine where additional value can be added by the QA staff. Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions. Attend FCU team meetings to stay informed of procedure/process changes, issues, and team training, and provide relevant feedback from QA reviews.
- Maintain QA policies and procedures, including continuous quality assurance efforts, reporting and metrics.
- Perform ad-hoc, special, and/or focused reviews as necessary, as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Deputy BSA/AML Compliance Officer and Financial Crimes Director.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Complete all required compliance training. Maintain knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Take responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.
Job Requirements:
- Six or more years of financial industry, Quality Assurance, BSA/AML, financial crime prevention/detection or related experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree Strongly Preferred (Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field)
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with federal and state AML regulations and requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act, The USA PATRIOT Act, FFIEC BSA/AML Exam Manual guidelines, OFAC/Economic Sanctions, Suspicious Activity Reporting, and financial crimes prevention and detection

What will I be working on?
As a QA Analyst, you’ll be working with us in all aspects of the product testing and release, from creating manual test to developing and running automated test. As a part of the development team, you’ll wear multiple hats, turn ambiguity into details, take the lead in the QA process, Release Planning, and defect tracking. Requirements:

Our headquarters are located in beautiful Boca Raton, FL with team members distributed around the country. This position is not remote but relocation assistance available.
What will I be working on?
As a Senior QA Analyst, you’ll be working with us in all aspects of the product testing and release, from creating manual test to developing and running automated test. As a part of the development team, you’ll wear multiple hats, turn ambiguity into details, take the lead in the QA process, Release Planning, and defect tracking. You will continuously search and find opportunities to improve QA and product performance and increase product reliability.
Requirements:
- MUST BE TRAINABLE AND WILLING TO LEARN
- College graduate with a degree focused on (or equivalent in) computer science or related field.
- 2+ years of software development and/or software QA experience, preferably for web applications
- Created and ran QA manual test
- Created and ran QA automation test
- Good knowledge and basic experience with test methodologies, QA process, Software Development Life Cycle, Release Planning, and defect tracking
- Clear, analytical, deductive thinking and approach to problem solving
- Demonstrable experience with SQL
- Some experience setting up and building test environments, executing tests, recording results.
- Some experience with generating, updating and running automated test scripts
- Experience with Jira, Rollbar, Papertrail, Slack are a plus
- Uncanny ability to stress edge cases and "break stuff"
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Participate and influence the quality of our products.
- Learn to develop, modify and evaluate software test plans and test cases
- Execute functional, smoke, regression, integration, stress, and load
- Set up test environments, execute tests, records results and defects.
- Collaborate with Software Development teams to identify and resolve product defects.
- Create new tests to target new features and products.
- Debug and investigate defects to determine root cause.
- Interact with databases, system and application logs as part of testing/debugging
- Understand application use cases and feature requirements.
- Able to create test cases and "break stuff"
- Think like a developer and end-user to produce a bug-free product

About the Role
Due to our rapid growth, we are looking for a talented QA Analyst to join our team. You will be getting in on the ground-level with us and working on testing virtually all aspects of the current product and future product development. You'll be working directly with the founding team daily and taking part in technology-related decisions. You will help us build the foundation of this company - its culture, its processes, and its practices. You'll also have the chance to work on assuring the quality of everything from analytics software to two-sided marketplaces, to third party integrations. There's a ton of interesting problems to solve.
What You'll Do...
- Carry out high touch manual testing that requires close communication with developers and engineering management
- Increase test coverage by writing test cases for upcoming and existing features
- Design, carry out and manage test plans; prioritize test scenarios to expedite releases
- Work with Engineering and Product to anticipate how code changes will impact workflows and proactively highlight pain points and suggest improvements
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to QA processes and approaches
- Promote a holistic culture of quality throughout the Dutchie organization
- Review existing tools and processes and drive more efficient or reliable approaches
- Challenge yourself to continuously improve your testing abilities
What You Bring...
- 2+ years of experience in web and mobile testing as a qa analyst or comparable role
- Rock solid understanding of testing best practices and methodologies grounded in QA fundamentals
- Proactive approach with a strong attention to detail, and exemplary documentation and organizational skills.
- Possessing an analytical mind, critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Ability to meticulously follow detailed steps and patience to track down difficult issues
- Ability to adapt, plan, and organize in a constantly changing environment - we move quickly and ship code often
- Knowledge and experience in technical aspects of software testing
- Self-starter - you're proactive and are able to start projects and tasks without constant direction
- Proven ability to drive issues and deliver quality results with a great deal of autonomy
- Great communication skills both verbal and written - you'll be at the touchpoint of a large group of engineers and product
- You enjoy your time working, but you enjoy your time outside of work too
- You have empathy for your users and your coworkers
