The Production Chemist will be involved in the small and large-scale synthesis of bonded silica.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Capable of Small Scale Production and ability to learn the principles of Production Scale-up.
- Assists in the reworking of non-conforming products.
- Maintains detailed technical records.
- Follows safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Maintaining general laboratory cleanliness cleans production equipment and glassware.
- Employees will be required to handle and manage hazardous waste.
- Additional hazardous waste training will be required annually.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

The perfect candidate will work independently, be extremely organized, be driven, a self-starter, and enjoy finding creative solutions and efficiencies to assist with growing our organization. This role will focus on extraction, post extraction processing and distillation of cannabis biomass.
This position will transition into a night shift position once the candidate is trained.
This position will report directly to the Lab Director.
Our business hours are 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday, but there may be seasonal changes to these hours based upon business needs and the occasional weekend shift. This position will be working outside of these normal posted business hours and after being trained in the processes, this position will be working a pseudo 2nd or 3rd shift, hours can be discussed.
Expectations of the position:
- Running extraction, post extraction processing and distillation of cannabis biomass
- Supports other misc lab duties such as cleaning of glassware, general laboratory organization etc…
- Follows safe laboratory work practices
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving instrument/equipment problems
Successful Candidates Must have:
- At least 1-2 years experience in a similar role
- Excellent communication skills
- Outgoing personality and professionalism
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization and accurate data entry skills
- Proficient skills using Word, Excel, and other common office software
- Knowledge of METRC is not a requirement but sought after
- A degree in chemistry or chemical engineering

Extraction Specialist / Cannabis Manufacturing
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
Perform routine and specialized duties in the operation, repair and maintenance of industrial equipment. Follow manufacturing and quality instructions. Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to equipment. Provide technical training to lower level personnel. Manage daily operations in absence of manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow work instructions and operation as per manufacturing requirements.
- Perform routine operational checks, maintenance and servicing of all machinery and equipment related to extraction operations.
- Inspect, repair and assure adherence to installation, safety and operational standards
- Be familiar with and adhere to manufacturers documentation for equipment that requires electrical and hydraulic circuitry and machinery
- Follows recipes for producing formulations Sets up and conducts HPLC and or GC/MS tests on chemical processes.
- Helps with process analytics by taking measurements, making computations and tabulating and analyzing the results. Uses computers to create reports portraying results of tests.
- Keeps a detailed laboratory log, dating and recording all tests and results.
- Be able to troubleshoot equipment using electrical test equipment, circuit diagrams, schematic and blueprints.
- Adjust or replace seals and other mechanical parts as needed.
- Follow a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance and preventative cleaning.
- Assist higher-level personnel in more complex maintenance, repair, servicing and troubleshooting.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
- Reads and understands the specifications or blueprints for the work to be done and plans the steps to be taken to complete the project.
- Uses extensive knowledge of available materials and the latest technologies to plan and select the material and tools to be used for the project.
- Remains up-to-date on information about new technology in materials, methods and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS
A college degree is required with a major in science or engineering preferred. Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people is essential. Good leadership skills are beneficial. Familiarity with statistical methods and spreadsheet applications is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is important. Regular use of a variety of machines and tools is essential. Standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents, manuals and drawings.
Some medium lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally is required. Good manual dexterity for the use of mechanical equipment and tools is required.
Good math and reasoning ability is essential. Able to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business.
WORK ENVIRONEMENT
The job is performed indoors on a manufacturing floor. Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, heat, sparks, oil and smoke may occur. Protective safety equipment may be required including appropriate clothing, shoes, gloves, hardhat, and goggles as needed. Activities include extended periods of standing and extensive work with measuring devices and heavy machinery.
