Job Description:
The Industrial Hemp and Medical Cannabis Program is responsible for ensuring Utah’s growers, processors, and independent laboratories are compliant with state regulation; as well as monitoring all cannabis products to ensure quality assurance standards are being met in the state of Utah.
The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) is seeking a Program Support Specialist to assist with: Industrial Hemp and Cannabinoid Product registration, including label review, verification of quality assurance testing and compliance.
- Pursuant to Utah Code §§ 4-41a-107 and 26-61a-111, this job includes duties that may arise from or directly relate to the Utah Medical Cannabis Act. Duties may require conduct which is in violation of the criminal laws of the United States with respect to the manufacture, sale, or distribution of cannabis. As a condition of employment, candidates who are selected to fill this position will be required to sign an Acceptance of Duties Under the Medical Cannabis Act Acknowledgment Form.
Principal Duties:
Provide administrative support.- Evaluate product registration applications and approve or deny based on requirements set forth in department rules.
- Document and keep records of activities as they pertain to product registration.
- Research unregistered products and work to bring companies into compliance with department rules.
- Monitors registered products list to ensure that notices of renewal are sent in a timely fashion and assist with product renewals.
- Assist with website updates and continuing education information to ensure that the most current information is easily accessible to the public.
- Answer and return phone calls and emails in a timely fashion.

This is a remote position, working from the comfort of your home office. Expected hours of availability are, Monday – Friday, 9AM – 5PM PST.
Mandatory qualifications: Must be extremely knowledgeable about cannabis cultivation, for both large scale commercial farms and home growers, conventional and organic methods, indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse, and you can effectively communicate that in both the written and spoken word. Your main objective will be to answer customer questions and give expert guidance through phone, zoom, email, and various social media platforms. You must have great communication and diplomacy skills to navigate a difficult customer. You are reliable, well organized and respond to communications in a timely manner.
- We also require (at a minimum) an Associates Degree in one of the following areas: Agriculture, Horticulture or Botany.
Secondary qualifications (Possessing more than one of these skills will make you a more ideal candidate for this position.):
· Extensive experience with Growth Science products. If you have direct experience using our products that goes a long way with us.
· Great copywriting skills. The ability to create engaging Instagram posts or write amazing blogs for our website. Marketing skills and social media management. If you have these talents, please include examples of your work with your resume to help you stand out among the crowd!
· Inside sales skills. The ability to handle sales inquiries, close deals, and grow the company’s sales.
