Job purpose
Cultivation maintenance specialist is responsible for aiding the Cultivation
Director in installing, maintaining, and fixing any mechanical, electrical or
equipment used within the Production Facility. The ideal candidate for this
position is well experienced in construction and maintenance and is able
perform repairs and regularly scheduled maintenance on all Production
Center equipment. The ideal candidate is organized with upkeep of
maintenance logs, part ordering, equipment manuals and SOP’s. Must have
the ability to proactively recognize and resolve building systems related
issues, and work effectively with consultants and contractors in a
professional manner.
Duties and responsibilities
- Performs maintenance operations of facilities and properties including the preventive
maintenance, proactive repair, and reactive maintenance issues as they occur, using
skilled trades, e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, utilities as assigned by the Cultivation
Director
- Responsible for maintaining the facility management program which includes repair and
maintenance schedules
- Must be able to work with a team
- Responsible for maintaining a log of maintenance activities and repairs
- Maintain awareness of inventories of tools and back-up equipment to accomplish the
tasks of repair and equipment replacement, and report any needed tools or equipment to
facilities manager
- Assist with the delivery and storage of facilities equipment, and ensure that tools and
equipment are stored in a clean and orderly manner
- Shows self-motivation/innovation and the ability to work well with all members of their
staff and the company, as well as with their direct supervisors
- Properly understand maintenance requirements of each piece of equipment and system
in the facility
- Troubleshoot issues with each piece of equipment and system in the building, including
knowledge of shut off valves and controls associated with the process
- Must comply with state and local regulation and maintain company standards for a
professional work environment
- On call for emergency maintenance and repairs
- Flexibility to perform other duties and tasks requested from Cultivation Director
- Must be able to work overtime, Weekends and Holidays. Time off must be approved by
supervisor.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- HS Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Prior maintenance and repair experience
- Knowledge in electrical, HVAC, plumbing and general construction
- Organized and energetic
- Able to work flexible hours, must be able to work with minimal or no supervision
- Construction background desirable
- Honest, trustworthy and dependable
- Able to pass a criminal background check
Working conditions
Individual must be able to thrive in a fast paced, highly stressful business environment. Indoor

Job Summary:

JOB DESCRIPTION – “MAINTENANCE TECH – HVAC SPECIALIST”
DEPARTMENT: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Facilities Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Tech manages the upkeep of the company’s offices and machinery. This requires a variety of skills such as HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and janitorial and electrical skills that contribute to their duties as Maintenance Techs. Maintenance Techs are also responsible for resolving any hazards that may occur on the premises. In addition, this person will specialize in commercial HVAC. They will be responsible for adjusting, cleaning, servicing, maintaining, repairing, and providing emergency services on all HVAC equipment on site.
JOB DUTIES:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
- Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
- Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
- Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems as preventative maintenance
- Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
- Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
- Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
- Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Conduct performance tests with specialized tools and adjust system settings
- Perform minor building, plumbing, electrical and painting repairs as necessary.
- Implement preventative maintenance measures.
- Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies.
- Complete inspections of offices with Maintenance Manager.
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel, and follow safety protocol.
- Assist the maintenance department with other duties as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum six month of Maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience working on commercial heating/air conditioning/refrigeration systems and controls
- Must hold an EPA Section 608 approved certificate of training to handle refrigerants.
- Skilled in basic carpentry, plumbing, janitorial and electrical.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and apply basic math skills.
- Must understand local electrical and HVAC codes and have a strong general mechanical aptitude.
- Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds unassisted.
- Experienced in operating a variety of equipment, including small hand tools, dehumidification units, humidification units.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Able to work well with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a DOJ Live Scan (A background check using your fingerprints)
- Must be 21+ years of age.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the care and maintenance of all property and production assets in a safe, sanitary, and efficient condition. This position will perform highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the cultivation and manufacturing site’s business goals and objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities/Task
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on irrigation, cultivation, production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems (to provide a continuous supply of heat, cooling, electrical, power, gas, or air required for operations).
- Readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations.
- Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
- Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Instruct and assist lower-level technicians.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
- Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Manager.
- Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Follow all required work safe practices. This would include lockout-tagout requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Formal Engineering/Maintenance Training desired.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably cannabis or food and beverage industry, AND
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and HVAC. AND
- Minimum of 2 years of experience on a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment.
- Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems and independently take appropriate corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment down time.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to work in a wet environment with moderate to high noise volume.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays.

- Report all maintenance issues to Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain record of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Perform custodial functions to clean and maintain the building both inside and outside.
- Assist with the management of outside contractors for required service for the facilities and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain quality control measures in accordance with state and local laws.
- Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
- Immediately inform Maintenance Manager of any system discrepancies.
- Work within company continuous improvement system and strive to increase productivity.
- Provide support to additional cultivation, harvest, and production teams as needed to achieve facility production goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing preferred.
- Able to follow detailed instruction and capable of performing repetitive tasks.
- Must have a positive attitude and work well with others in a team environment.
- Willing to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment in a safe manner.
- Comfortable with heights, soil and water, and tight spaces.
- Ability to safely climb, squat, bend, twist, kneel and stand for at least 8 hours per day, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be 21 years of age or older and able to successfully register with the state's cannabis commission as an agent.
- Must comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Previous facilities maintenance experience in a regulated production facility (food, beverage, CPG, etc.) preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 50 lb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus.
